British generals Killed 5 colonists when they started a riot after the king tried to enforce heavy taxes.

The King made a law prohibiting colonists from buying tea from any country other than England.

Boston Tea Party

The colonists threw tea overboard the ships. "Friends! Bretheren! Countrymen! - That worst of plagues that detested tea, shipped for this port by the East India Trading Company, is now arrived in the harbor!"

Lexington and Concord

Battle of Bunkerhill

British lined up on the Charlestown Peninsula on the North side. 2,400 British troops against 1,500 Americans. Americans lost!

Battle of Trenton

Dec 25, 1776

This battle happened in Trenton, New Jersey on the Delaware River. The americans fought the Hessians and British. It was a restounding win for Washington and his men.

Battle of Saratoga

Oct 17, 1777

This battle happened on the Hudson River in New York State. America forced the British to retreat. Forced Burgoyne retreat.

Valley Forge

There was no battle fought at Valley Forge, but the troops spent the winter of 1777-1778 camping here.

Battle of Yorktown

Sep 28, 1781

Happened in Virginia. Americans and the French fought against the British. This battle happened 28 Sept 1781-October 19. There were 8,800 Americans, and 7,800 French against 6,000 British. The Americans and French won!
