French military leader Ensign de Jumonville and a third of his army are killed by a British military force controlled by George Washington. In revenge, at Fort Necessity, the French and Indians kill one third of Washington's force and forces them to surrender and retreat. -

Ottawa Chief Pontiac unites many Indian tribes in an effort to drive the British off their land. Colonel Henry Bouquet leads the British army and defeats Indian forces at Bushy Run. -
The End of the War
King George III signs the Proclamation of 1763 reserving land west of the Allegheny Mountains for Indians. This angers the colonists because they cannot expand west, but marks the virtual end to the war.
