This took place in sarajevo where Franz Ferdinand was apearing because Austiria-Hungary empire was planning to basically take over Serbia. He was shot by gavrilo Princip who was a serbian citizen. -
Austria-Hungary
After the assasination of the Arch Duke Austria-Hungary gave certain orders to Serbia but Serbia did not follow so Austria-Hungary fired at Serbia. -
Battle of western Frontiers
This battle was happening in two places on the eastern fronts too. Germany was trying to fight in both places at once which did not turn out too good for Germany. -
Trench Warfare
This military strategy began in the western fronts. Trench Warfare was known to be a defensive strategy becuase soldiers were not goin forward. -
Naval Battle of Falkland Islands
This battle was with German warships that were thought to be the best. What Germany did't know was that the British were ready with better warships and defeatedd the Germans. -
Chemical Warfare
Chemical Warfare is deadly chemicals like mustard gas in a container that when they throw it it leaks out. This military strategy cause many allied deaths . Germany was the first country to use it. -
Tanks
The first tanks were put to the test on the somme battlefield by britain. They were used better in ww2 though. -
Zimmermann telegram
The british decoded a telegram that the Germans sent to mexico. The telegram basically asked mexico to help gremany against us. Also it promised Mexico the land they lost to us back. -
U.S. declares war on Germany
Germany at this time was still fighting on the allied side. They had alot of people who wanted to fight them like Italy and France. President Wilson was the president who declaierd war on them. -
Selective service Act
The selective service act is when all males have to sign a draft saying that if the millitary needs them that they have to go fight. We still have this act today too.
