A defective chimney on a house in Hull caught fire, which quickly spread between the wooden houses due to windy conditions.     "In Flanders Fields" is one of the most notable poems written during World War I, created in the form of a French rondeau. It has been called "the most popular poem" produced during that period. Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae is popularly believed to have written it after he witnessed the death of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, 22 years old, the day before. The poem was first published on 8 December of that year in the London-based magazine Punch. He was canadian.

    The battle of vimy ridge took place on between april 9th -12th 1979. The objective of the Canadian Corps was to take control of the German-held high ground along an escarpment at the northernmost end of the Arras Offensive. Supported by a creeping barrage the Canadian Corps captured most of the ridge during the first day of the attack. The battle was the first occasion when all four divisions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force participated in a battle together, and thus became a Canadian nation

Seven days later, on September 10, 1939, the Parliament of Canada likewise declared war on Germany, the country's first independent declaration of war and the beginning of Canada's participation in the bloodiest and most brutal conflict in history.

    The landings took place along a 50-mile stretch of the Normandy coast divided into five sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. Canada got Juno, britains got sword and gold, usa got omaha and utah. By the end of the first day 30,000 canadians landed.

    Adolf Hitler committed suicide by gunshot on 30 April 1945 in his Führerbunker in Berlin, His wife Eva committed suicide with him by ingesting poison. That afternoon in accordance with Hitler's prior instructions, their remains were carried up the stairs to ground level and through the bunker's emergency exit, doused in petrol and set alight in the Reich Chancellery garden outside the bunker. He killed himself most likely because he didnt wanna be killed by his enemies.
