  • Herbert hoover takes office

    Herbert hoover takes office
    On his first day of office he held a press conferance to inprove relations. However 8months later the Stock market crashed resulting the Great Depression. He then changed his press policies in favor of tighter screening.
  • The Dust Bowl

    The Dust Bowl
    Due to the vast amount of erosion in the great plains due to farming practices a 100,00,000acre area started to have massive dust storms which destroyed farming in the area during a massive drought.
  • The Bonus Army

    The Bonus Army
    The Bonus Army(Bonus Expeditionary Force) was marching force with 43,000 people total, 17,000 were WW1 veterans who were granted a certificate for their service and would be payed later in 1945. However they needed the money now in the Great Depression so they were dispursed by the military to not pay the amount needed, 4 people died as a result of the gunfire.

    RFC
    The Rconstruction Finance Corporation was a part of the New Deal Acts under FDR. Its main purpose was to give out $2 billion in aide to state and local governments and to give loans to banks, railroads, mortgage companies, and other businesses

    After a depression and natural chraisma to influence the people of Germany through the bitter hatered of the results of WW1 the nazi party was put into power and grew starting on January 30th 1933 as Hitler was elected chancellor.

    The nNew deal program was tartgeted at the Economy and well being of the people of the great Depression to end it. It had 22 parts when finished and only 2 parts remaining, one is Social Security and the other is National Labor Relations Act.

    The Indian Reoganization Act was part of the New Deal Acts by FDR resulting in changing the tribes back to a more self-governed state. It also made the tribes more stable in terms of finances as they had to mange the land and the economy.

    Father Coughlin attacks FDR, Jews
    Father Coughlin was originally for FDR and endorsored his policies but as he found out that the New Deal proposals were friendly he critized FDR there after until around 1941. Father Coughlin later in 1936 he became more facist and started preaching it as well slandering jews in the process.

    On August 14th 1935 the Social Secutiry Act became part of the New Deal program and Social Security was avalible to those retired, 50% of which were in poverty. However, Social security has been a problem as its monthly lump sums have been unequally distributed. Fruad is also a common problem and has almost crashed several times.

    Neutralralities Act
    The Neutralities Act was a stopgap as an answer of what to do of the stituation of WW2. It was enchanced and sections repealed from 1935-1940, the main focus of this however was to prevent involvement of the USA in WW2 as it was prohibiting loans, war materials, and weaponry. The Neutrality Act of 1939 is still in effect.
  • GM Sit-Down Strike

    GM Sit-Down Strike
    The Sit-Down strike was first implemented by UAW union workers who infiltrated the most valuable parts factory in GM and held it down for a month until Febuary 11th when an agreement was made. This stike was very popular and recieved an amazing amount of support and attention from union workers. Many riots and strikes followed the strike and influenced the auto workers of today bosting the economy in the process.

    The Socal Security Act was first emplemented during the Great Depression of the 1930's as part of FDR's New Deal program to help the elderly in those harsh times. The original program had many flaws like the fact that few were actually helped by the program out of the 50% in poverty. The first sum was collected in 1937.
  • Rape of Nanjing

    Rape of Nanjing
    In the year 1937 a six week massacure and rape was atribuated to the imperial japanese forces against the chinese citenzens of Nanjing. As looting and arson was also experienced hundreds of thousands of citizens and disarmed chinese soldiers were killed 20,000-80,000 women were raped and most of those raped had unspeakable atrocities inflicted most of which were ended by death.

    The Grapes of Wrath
    The Grapes of Wrath was published by John Stienbeck in 1939 to depict the problems of the "okies" in the dust bowl during the depression. The novel received much critism for over exagurating the issues of the people, in fact, it was annouced that it was underplayed so that it wouldn't interfer with the story.
