  • 18th Amendment

    This amendment banned the selling, transporting, and manufacturing of alcohol. Illegal underground bars called 'Speakeasies' were created.
  • Volstead Act

    This act gave the Federal Bureau the right to enforce the 18th Amendment. The 18th Amendment had banned alcohol.
  • Lenin and the Communist State/ Red Scare

    The United States began to panic after the Russian government had been overthrown by the communists. As the communists waved their red flag, they claimed to abolish capitalism.
  • Palmer Raids

    A man named Mitchell Palmer hunted people who were suspected communists. He did this without legal counsel.
  • Sacco and Vanzetti Trial

    Sacco and Vanzetti were two men who were charged with murdering a factory guard and paymaster. They were both found guilty.
  • 19th Amendment Ratified

    The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. This amendment came after years of fighting for women's rights.
  • Teapot Dome Affair

    Public oil lands were set aside for private companies. Albert B. Fall was the man who set up the private companies.
  • National Origins Act

    This was an act to restrict the amount of immigrants coming into the country. It limited it to 2% of people from that country already in the United States.
  • Charles Lindbergh Crosses the Atlantic Ocean

    He flew on his own over the Atlantic Ocean. His trip was about 3600 miles.
  • 1st Talking Movie, The Jazz Singer, is Released

    No movie before this had dialouge. The only previous sounds in motion pictures was music.
  • Herbert Hoover is Elected President

    Hoover was the 31st president. He was blamed for the Great Depression.
  • The Stock Market Crash

    Huge amounts of people sold their stocks, which then caused the stock market to crash. America was in the Great Depression until World War Two
