Mournhold under attack
Seconds before midnight, a magical anomaly opened up above Mournhold. Loud metallic roars were heard all around the fear-gripped city. In an instant, thousands of asteroids fell from the skies, completely devastating downtown Mournhold. The Merdishk-Abhahr complex was destroyed and Hegemon Garnara Aramothi was presumed dead, along with the military/political leadership of the Dunmeri Hegemony. Troops were brought onto the streets as reports of unknown soldiers attacking civilians were received. -
Numidium spotted
From the anomaly, a grey ball rained down upon the city of Mournhold. The ball stood up to reveal itself as a metallic humanoid, massive in scale. Some of the more ancient Dunmer instantly recognized the monster as Numidium, a Dwemeri golem last seen during the ending days of the Second Era. The Numidium began destroying the buildings of Mournhold while screaming sentences in the lost language of Dwemeris. -
Mournhold attacked by the Dragon League
In the streets of Mournhold, thousands of mask-wearing soldiers began appearing from the portal in the sky. These troops seemed to be human in their appearance, and wore the emblem of the Dragon League on their shoulders. At gunpoint, these soldiers forced Dunmer to convene in open areas. In these areas, the civilians were attacked by the Numidium, who used its arcane powers to drain the Dunmer of their souls, killing them in the process. -
Dunmeri Hegemony collapses
With the death of Hegemon Garnara Aramothi and the entire high command of the Hegemony, the unstable state collapsed. Military commanders of the Dunmeri Muatra began taking control over their districts, fighting the Republic of Morrowind, the Empire and the Dragon League invasion at the same time. The leaders of the former ruling party of Dunmeri Front began fighting each other to gain control over Morrowind. -
Battle of Silgrad
After advancing through the Septim's Gate Pass in the Velothi Mountains, Legio IV Trapetum invaded the city of Silgrad. The city was largely bereft of defenders, who had all departed to fight the Dragon League invasion in Mournhold. The Imperial Legion conquered the city and its adjacent coastline, establishing a direct supply line between the Empire and the Republic of Morrowind. -
Island of Vvardenfell liberated
After the Hegemony collapsed, all military forces on the island of Vvardenfell departed to defend Mournhold. The Republic of Morrowind ordered its troops to reconquer the island. Although the Second Civil War caused a lot of damage, Vvardenfellians were more than happy to leave the totalitarian rule of the Hegemony. Pictures and statues of the now-deceased Hegemon Aramothi were gleefully destroyed. -
Order of Meridia established
In Bravil, a group of dedicated worshipers of Lord Meridia established the Order of Meridia, to restore her to be the rightful master of the Colored Rooms, which had been invaded by the Dragon League. Unlike most Daedric cults, the Order of Meridia had no evil intentions and consisted of Daedric priests, students of the arcane arts, veterans of the Legion and common citizens. Their base operations was the Temple of Meridia, constructed in Anvil. -
Situation in Mournhold mostly contained
After it was seen falling through the ruins of Merdishk-Abhahr, Numidium promptly disappeared from sight. Although the anomalous portal was still active above Mournhold, the flow of Dragon League soldiers lessened and most city blocks were restored under the control of Mournhold's local army groups. -
Kingdom of Valenwood declares independence
After negotiations between the Dominion and the Empire concluded, the Kingdom of Valenwood was allowed to choose its own path. Chancellor Maenos Sagewind used this opportunity to declare Valenwood to be an independent state, ruled by Queen Desnia Thorontur. His first decree was to hold a referendum, asking the Bosmer if they wished to be independent or join the Empire. Maenos Sagewind and Queen Thorontur both heavily advocated for joining the Empire. -
Profile: Queen Desnia Thorontur
Desnia Thorontur was the Queen of Valenwood and the daughter of two murderous psychopaths: Durion Thorontur and Alawnaen Thorontur. She shared none of their characteristics and was a kind and a thoughtful person. Desnia used her position as the Queen to promote traditional Bosmeri values like self-sufficiency, communal kinships and the worship of nature. Thanks to her tireless efforts, Valenwood became the first country in history to voluntarily deurbanize. -
Wild speculations about the Reman Signals
In the previous year, astronomers operating the Rinion Observatory discovered that the island universe of Reman was transmitting numerous radio signals of artificial nature towards Anu. Various theories were discussed: the most dominant one being that it was simply an undiscovered new mundial phenomena. Other theories suggested that Reman was home to extranirnic life, perhaps even home to alternate gods. Some suggested that the signals were sent by Daedra to confuse Tamrielians. -
Anarchy overtakes Morrowind
After the collapse of the Hegemony, the Dunmer of mainland Morrowind were freed from oppression, but were now threatened by total warfare. Due to the Grand War, anti-Empire emotions rose and the Republic of Morrowind remained unpopular due to their distinctly pro-Imperial beliefs. Most Dunmeri civilians supported their local warlords, who provided security and limited governance for their subjects. In Mournhold, civilians were governed by a small remnant Dunmeri Front government. -
The Padomaic Wall disappears
The Padomaic Wall was an artificial chain of waterspouts and dangerous waves which encircled the entirety of Akavir. Its presence was anomalous and it had made it almost impossible to visit Akavir. As mysteriously as it had appeared, the Padomaic Wall disappeared on 23rd First Seed, leaving behind no trace of its former existence. On 24th First Seed, thousands of private companies were registered in the Empire, most of them with the word "Colony" in their title. -
Artificial magna ge created
In the Auriel Arcanobooster, the Thalmor Chimer ran countless scientific/arcane experiments. One of the experiments entailed the creation of an artificial magna ge, through the channeling of the power of Auriel's Bow, which powered the Arcanobooster. The Thalmor Chimer used the Bow to generate an immense magical field inside a large empty hall, which collapsed under its own weight. As a result, a small magna ge formed, named Arbas (Womb in Aldmeris). -
Relations worsen between the Empire and the Republic
The Empire helped the Republic of Morrowind fight the Hegemony with the single condition that Morrowind was to become a province of the Empire. General Alvar Resdayn, who had risen to lead the Republic after Novoyan Eldhren's death, showed opposition to the merger. He believed that Morrowind would be better off as an independent Empire-aligned state. As General Resdayn proved to be consistent in his opposition, Empress Eärwen began reconsidering her support to the Republic. -
Computers pervasive in Tamriel
Computer technology, invented in Morrowind and developed by engineers in Summerset Isles and Hammerfell, had advanced rapidly. By 5E 334, computers were widespread in Tamriel, commonly used for office work, economic simulations and recreational fun. Personal computers were common in middle-class households, equipped with calendars, calculators, word processors and video games. Special arcane computers, powered by soulgem processors, were used by wizards to create spells. -
Altnet finalized
After a period of designing and programming, the Altnet was finalized. A system of information-sharing based on propylon networks, the Altnet allowed computers to be linked together via internetworking. Called the Altnet, shorthand for Altmer Networking, this new discovery was used in the Summerset Isles to interconnect all branches of the government: the Thalmor Party, the Dominion High Command, the Thalmor Chimer and the Dominion Mundus Agency. No civilians were allowed to use the Altnet. -
The release of "The Ancient Manuscripts: Battlefield"
The Ancient Manuscripts: Battlefield was a video game released by House of Mercy Softworks, a video game company from High Rock. TAM: Battlefield, played from a first-person perspective, portrayed the story of the Imperial Simulacrum, during which Emperor Uriel Septim VII had been imprisoned by Jagar Tharn. The game was praised for its historical accuracy, its graphics and its open-world gameplay. However, Orcish civil movements called the game racist, as it portrayed Orcs as savage beasts. -
The Grand War ends
The Empire of Tamriel withdrew from Morrowind after the Republic of Morrowind officially refused to join the Empire. The cities of Silgrad, Kragenmoor, Sotha Sil and Narsis, which were occupied by the Empire, were left behind and taken over by Dunmeri militias. The Dunmer of Cyrodiil, disappointed by the lack of principles the Imperial government showed, continued the Grand War by joining the armies of the Republic of Morrowind. -
Numidium attacks Bosmora
The Numidium, last seen falling through the basement of the Merdishk-Abhahr ruins, had spent its time tunneling through Morrowind. In the city of Bosmora, Numidium re-emerged and began attacking civilians. Weapons, both conventional and magical, had no effect upon the Numidium. The terrible iron monster used its arcane power to absorb souls of the fleeing civilians and seemed to grow more active and violent with every new addition. -
State of emergency lifted in the Empire
Almost a year ago, Empress Eärwen declared a state of emergency and ruled the Empire as an absolute ruler, presiding over a successful campaign in Valenwood and a half-successful one in Morrowind. After the Grand War had ended, the need for a state of emergency had passed. Empress Eärwen officially lifted the emergency and new elections were scheduled to be held in the next year. Thanks to her decisive leadership during time of crisis, Eärwen saw her popularity soar among the Imperials. -
Ships from Akavir visit Leyawiin
A year after the Imperial colony of Port Alessia in Akavir fell silent, a fleet of foreign ships reached Cyrodiil from the east. They were staffed by exotic-looking sword-wielding humanoids, who bore symbols of dragons and serpents. These ships looked like old-timey Tamrielic ships, but constructed out of different materials. The visitors anchored in the Topal Bay, next to the port of Leyawiin, and requested the presence of a "representative of Tamriel". -
First contact between Imperials and Akavirians
After meeting with the Mayor of Leyawiin, the delegation revealed that they were Akavirians, or Núlìsh in the Tsaesci tongue. Although it was common knowledge that humans once lived in Akavir, they were presumed extinct after the Tsaesci reportedly "ate" them. As it seems, history was misinterpreted and the Tsaesci kept the Akavirians alive as slaves. As the Akavirians originated from the Wandering Ehlnofey, they were closely related to the Imperials, the Nords, the Redguards and the Bretons. -
History of Akavirians revealed
The leader of the Akavirian expedition, a man called Oshi Zhilzamu, was semi-fluent in Tamrielic language. He revealed the history of his people: in the year of 1E 102, the Akavirians were subjugated by the Tsaesci, a race of evil serpent-men. In the year of 5E 330, there was a vast slave riot. By 5E 334, the Akavirians had conquered all of Western Akavir and established the pre-industrial Kingdom of Akavir. Although it was twice the size of Tamriel, the Kingdom had only 35 million inhabitants. -
Continent of Akavir
The continent of Akavir is located 4,000 miles to the east of Tamriel. Much like Tamriel, it harbors numerous regions with different climates and cultures. There are four macroregions:
1) Western Akavir, temperate lowlands and swamps controlled by the Kingdom of Akavir.
2) Thousand Monkey Islands, tropical islands inhabited by Tang Mo.
3) Fetrixia, deserts and jungles inhabited by Ka Po' Tun.
4) Kamalia, mountainous uninhabited wastelands -
Races of Akavir
Besides the Akavirians, there are four other races present in Akavir.
1) The Tsaesci are a race of vampiric serpents. They've ruled over Akavirians for thousands of years.
2) The tiger-like Ka Po' Tun rule over an empire in Southern Akavir, led by a dragon called Tosh Raka. They are highly efficient and fearsome fighters.
3) The Kamals are an enigmatic race of ice demons.
4) The monkey-like Tang Mo inhabit the Thousand Monkey Isles. They live as hunter-gatherers and are believed to be insane. -
Race: Tsaesci
The Tsaesci are natives of Western Akavir. They are highly intelligent, cunning, magically-gifted and experts of social manipulation. The Tsaesci are seen by other races of Akavir as evil and extremely dangerous. They established the first known state in Akaviri history and have ruled Western Akavir for five eras. After the Akavirian slave riot, the Tsaesci rule was overthrown and they were scattered all across Western Akavir, to be hunted to extinction. -
Race: Ka Po' Tun
The Ka Po' Tun are natives of Southeastern Akavir. They are a feline race, physically similar to the Khajiit of Tamriel. Unlike the Khajiit, the Ka Po' Tun are highly civilized, physically strong and resourceful. They are led by Tosh Raka, an immortal red dragon. The Ka Po' Tun society is brutal and unforgiving, governed on the principles of "might makes right". Although pre-industrial, the Empire of Ka Po' Tun has the largest army in Akavir and has achieved a level of high sophistication. -
Race: Kamal
The Kamal are natives of the Kamal Peninsula in Northeastern Akavir. They are a race of fearsome snow demons. The Kamal spend their lives in constant hibernation, only emerging from their slumber whenever their lives are threatened. They've been known to occasionally invade other lands and, in the Second Era, the Kamal unsuccessfully invaded Tamriel. The Kamal are physically massive, with large icy spikes growing from their backs. Rather uniquely, they communicate via telepathy. -
Race: Tang Mo
The Tang Mo are natives to the Thousand Monkey Islands, in the center of Akavir. The Tang Mo resemble monkeys and are covered with fur. They do not have an organized society and live in a state of constant civil strife. Although they've been invaded by nearly everyone in Akavir, the Tang Mo have never been subjugated. The Tang Mo are brave and thrill-seeking, albeit rather simple-minded and with poor judgement. All Tang Mo are neurotic and hyperactive to the point of madness. -
Port Alessia's fate revealed
Oshi Zhilzamu also revealed that the settlers of Port Alessia were slaughtered by Akavirian armies during their war of independence. The Kingdom of Akavir regarded the Tamrielians as aliens and as enemies, because they freely traded with the Tsaesci. King Aseki of the Akavirian Kingdom felt remorseful over ordering their deaths and ordered the delegation to carry the corpses of the dead humans back to Tamriel for a proper burial. -
Port Alessia colonists buried
In a spectacle broadcast live all over the Empire, Akavirian priests delivered fifty dead humans into a graveyard in Leyawiin and prayed for their souls. They were joined by Nine Divines priests and large crowds of citizens, who were curious about the Akavirians and their alien presence. Members of the Akavirian delegation, when faced with the technological advancement of Tamriel, were in a state of confusion and assumed that the Tamrielians had assumed god-like powers through some trickery. -
The Padomaic Wall
When asked about the Padomaic Wall, the Akavirian delegation was confused. They were unaware that the Wall even existed, let alone that the Tamrielians had attempted for years to cross it. When asked about 23rd First Seed, the day the Wall disappeared, Oshi Zhilzamu proudly announced that it was the day the Tsaesci Empire formally surrendered to the Kingdom of Akavir. It can be safely concluded that the Padomaic Wall was designed and upheld by the Tsaesci. -
Diplomatic relations established between Tamriel and Akavir
Before departing, the Empire and Akavir officially established diplomatic relationships. A group led by Oshi Zhilzamu remained in Cyrodiil as ambassadors representing the Kingdom of Akavir, becoming the first Akavirians to reside in Tamriel since the Second Era. Eligio Valore, a Legion officer from Leyawiin, departed with the delegation to become the first Tamrielian to permanently reside in Akavir. Overall, the first contact between the two continents went exceptionally well. -
Confirmed reports of attacks in Eastern Morrowind
After the Numidium had attacked the city of Bosmora, he began to kill the local Dunmeri citizens by absorbing their souls. However, instead of dying, Numidium kept these beings alive through arcane means. Called the "Cold Ones", these rotting Dunmeri corpses began to viciously attack local citizens. Due to the collapse of the Hegemony and the Dunmeri Civil War, no joint action was taken in Morrowind to dispatch the Cold Ones. -
Rednet invented
In the University of Rihad, a group of computer scientists led by Lesha Alimha invented the Rednet, a discussion system open for everyone with a computer and a dial-up connection. Rednet, abbreviation of Redguard Networking, allowed its userbase to send emails, discuss topical subjects in special newsgroups and disseminate educational materials. Rednet, although slow and text-only, began to spread around Hammerfell and was used to voice political opinions and share amusing stories of cats. -
Battle of Praloris
After invading mainland Morrowind, the irregular forces of the Republic of Morrowind routed ex-Hegemony troops from the city of Praloris and annexed it to the Republic. As it was the birthplace of Vivie Satheno, the annexation of Praloris was deemed as an important achievement by General Alvar Resdayn. Reports of monsters roaming the countryside near Praloris spread among the Republic's troops. -
Numidium attacks Necrom
Necrom was a labyrinthian city of catacombs, mausoleums and graveyards, used by the Dunmer to bury their dead in accordance with their Daedric religion. Numidium walked from Bosmora to Necrom and started to "awaken" the corpses of Necrom by blowing corrupted souls into their rotten bodies. As a result, over two million Cold Ones were created. Directed by Dragon League paramilitary officers, the Cold Ones of Necrom advanced to engage all ex-Hegemony military forces. -
Eastern Morrowind begins to fall
After the Numidium attacked Necrom, millions of Cold Ones descended upon Eastern Morrowind. The cities of Praloris, Dragon Glade, Salen Vulgate and Bosmora all fell to the hordes of dead Dunmer. In each one of these cities, the inhabitants were slaughtered and turned into new Cold Ones by Numidium's necromantic powers. The hordes of Cold Ones began to advance towards Mournhold, the capital of Morrowind, heavily guarded by ex-Hegemony troops. -
Orcish population stabilizes
The disastrous War of Wrothgaria and the War of the Reach devastated the Orcish population of Tamriel. After they settled in the Alik'r Desert and established the city of Volenfell, Orcish population began to stabilize. From its low point of 15 million after the two wars, the Orcish population now numbered 30 million, doubling in just 15 years. The city of Volenfell itself was prosperous, with a booming economy and a large workforce of Orcish young adults. -
Numidium's inner workings studied by the Synod
Through the analysis of Numidium's arcane fields, Synod wizards came to the conclusion that he was powered by an immense power source located outside Mundus. The Synod also discovered that Numidium was essentially invincible and wouldn't stop until either his power source was destroyed or his controller was slain. Penitus Oculatus agents were dispatched into Morrowind to find a way to sever his connection with his yet-unknown controller. -
Republic of Morrowind invaded
Hordes of Cold Ones swam across the Inner Sea and launched an invasion of Vvardenfell. The cities of Molag Mar and Tel Branora became the first to fall as the Republic's forces were overwhelmed by the vicious creatures. Simultaneous terrorist attacks by the Dragon League occurred in all major Vvardenfellian cities. The League agents focused upon slaying Dunmeri military commanders in an effort to weaken the Republic's resistance to the Cold Ones. -
Destruction of Mournhold
As the Cold Ones descended upon the largest city of Morrowind, the massive portal above the city turned red. Burning meteorites rained down upon the city from above, decimating Mournhold and its population. Hundreds of thousands of Dunmer trying to escape from the city were slaughtered by Dragon League soldiers and turned into Cold Ones by the Numidium. In just five days, the third-largest city in Tamriel was destroyed, depopulated and deserted. -
Government of the Republic evacuates from Morrowind
After Mournhold was destroyed, panic gripped the Dunmer. General Alvar Resdayn and the government of the Republic of Morrowind, sensing that all resistance would be crushed in mere minutes by the arriving Cold Ones, fled from Vvardenfell to Cyrodiil and were given asylum by the Empire. An pro-Empire government-in-exile for Morrowind was set up in Cheydinhal. -
Thalmor Talons investigate the Dragon League invasion
Archmagister Heriona Talathion dispatched a group of Thalmor Talon agents to locate the power source the Numidium was using and discover a way to appropriate it to the Dominion. The Talons set up their base in a deserted Eastern Morrowind village called Wadayn and began to capture Cold Ones, to reverse-engineer the process the Numidium used to return them to life. -
Usage of soul bombs authorized by the Empire
In an effort to put an end to the Dragon League and their invasion, the Elder Council considered the usage of soul bombs in Morrowind. Although the Council felt threatened by a possible invasion from Morrowind, potential Dunmeri civilian casualties kept the Council from action. Empress Eärwen Tiberius, acting on reports forwarded by Synod and Penitus Oculatus, overrode the Council and authorized the usage of soul bombs in Morrowind, to destroy the Numidium, the League and the Cold Ones. -
Destruction of Necrom
After Empress Eärwen Tiberius authorized the usage of soul bombs, an ICBM carrying a soulgem warhead exploded over Necrom. In a massive explosion, the ancient city of graves was wiped from Nirn, along with 10 million Cold Ones and the Numidium. Necrom's destruction severely weakened the Dragon League's operations in Morrowind and curtailed the production of new Cold Ones, but it also angered the Dunmer and resentment grew against the gung-ho style of governance Eärwen Tiberius exemplified. -
Lord Marius reveals his plans
Antonius Brutus Marius, the leader of the Dragon League, appeared in the destroyed Mournhold and set up his headquarters in the ruins of Merdishk-Abhahr. Now calling himself Lord Marius, he made a televised speech to the rest of Tamriel. He proclaimed that the time had come to restore a one-world government on Tamriel. Lord Marius fashioned himself as a modern-day Tiber Septim and used the Numidium as proof that he had the backing of the Gods in his quest to conquer Tamriel. -
Dragon League's master plan laid out
In his speech, Lord Marius proclaimed the start of a "purification" of Tamriel. In his vision, Tamriel consisted of only three purely human races: the Imperials, the Redguards and the Nords. All the other races were to be exterminated by his followers. After he had "purified" Tamriel, a new Empire would rise, which would expand into other planets and planes of existence. Lord Marius commanded all humans loyal to the League to join his army. -
Profile: Lord Marius
Lord Marius was a new moniker Antonius Brutus Marius had chosen for himself. He was over a hundred years old, but stopped aging at the age of 35 after he had achieved immortality through dark experiments. Lord Marius was an evil man, whose last shreds of humanity had been eaten away by the Daedric powers he had acquired after conquering the Colored Rooms. His dark wish was to slaughter 95% of Tamrielians and keep the surviving 5% as obedient slaves, to carry out his will. -
Dunmeri refugees flood the Empire
Dunmeri civilians, escaping the terror of the Dragon League, fled to Cyrodiil and Skyrim through Western Morrowind. Hundreds of thousands of Dunmer walked the treacherous paths in the Valus Mountains to escape the Cold Ones. After the Dragon League began to shoot at these escapees, the Imperial Legion built outposts in the Velothi Mountains to secure their safe passage and direct them towards refugee camps. -
The Dragon League discussed in the Tamrielic Council
The Tamrielic Council was convened in the Imperial City to discuss the Dragon League. High Chancellor Urgulanius Sisenna ordered all sovereign states of Tamriel to unite against the Dragon League and liberate Morrowind. The Empire and the Dominion, although worried about the League, proved unwilling to commit large resources to liberate Morrowind. Both of the states believed that Lord Marius was lying and that the League's occupation of Morrowind was transient. -
The Hist express concern over the League
The Hist trees, strongly attuned to the forces of Aurbis, felt that the Dragon League's actions were desecrating the Aedric-Daedric balance and were worried about the consequences of their actions. As a result, the Hist began discussing ways to counter League's potential invasion of Argonia among themselves. As the Argonians all kept their souls in circulation within the Hist trees, they were especially vulnerable to the Numidium and its soul-eating capabilities. -
Morrowind falls to the Dragon League
In just under a year, the Dragon League managed to conquer the entire province of Morrowind. Despair overtook the province as the League didn't try to hide the fact that they were exterminating the Dunmer. All major population centers were subjugated and ruled by League officers, with Mournhold becoming the central hub for all Dragon League operations. The fall of Morrowind to Dragon League's interdimensional invaders shocked Tamriel. -
Life in occupied Morrowind
Life was harsh and fleeting in the League-occupied Morrowind. Hordes of free-roaming Cold Ones slaughtered Dunmer on sight. The Dragon League officers cut off all electricity, water supply and food production in Morrowind. Although the majority of the Dunmer were still alive, their numbers were shrinking. Still-alive Dunmer either roamed the Morrowindian countrysides in large groups or banded together in temporary strongholds. -
Numidium attacks Dawnstar
The bombing of Necrom did little to damage the immortal golem of Numidium. The beast swam through the Sea of Ghosts to the coastal city of Dawnstar. It emerged from water and started to wreak havoc in the sleepy Nordic city. Conventional weapons failed to harm the Numidium as it absorbed the souls of panicking citizens and turned them into Nordic Cold Ones. The dark plague that had struck Morrowind had now spread to Skyrim. -
Cyrodiilic Perimeter enforced
After Morrowind fell, isolated groups of Cold Ones began to invade Cyrodiil. In response, the Imperial Legion established the Cyrodiilic Perimeter, a long unbroken chain of manned watchtowers and chain-link fences, to keep the undead contained in Morrowind. Controversially, Dunmeri refugees were turned back from the Perimeter due to the fear that they might harbor Cold Ones. -
Aldmeri Dominion offers limited assistance
Although relations between the Dominion and the Empire had soured after the Valenwood Crisis, Archmagister Talathion offered the Empire limited assistance in combating the League. Information-sharing was established between the Thalmor Talons, Synod and the Penitus Oculatus. Dominion battlemages were sent to reinforce Cyrodiilic Perimeter. Their help with generating large magical barriers was keenly appreciated by the Legion. -
Imperial Legions arrive in Skyrim
In an effort to keep Skyrim from falling to the Dragon League, the Empire sent twelve legions, three Malleus fleets and thousands of specialists to defend Skyrim's eastern border. Warmly welcomed by the local Nordic inhabitants, the Legion set up its base of operations in Eastmarch and constructed large military bases to house its troops. Three legions were directed towards Dawnstar, to attempt to liberate the city from Numidium's attacks. -
Empress Eärwen visits Valenwood
In order to congratulate the Bosmer on their independence and to sway the Bosmer to join the Empire, Empress Eärwen and her entourage rode into Valenwood on fleets of Antipeter brand cars. Eärwen met with Maenos Sagewind, Queen Desnia Thorontur and other representatives of the Bosmer nation. Maenos and Eärwen visited a small bakery in Falinesti in an effort to seem humble. Little did they know, the bakery was owned by a Thalmor sympathizer. Both leaders had to be treated for food poisoning. -
Abramor launched by the Dominion Mundus Agency
Dominion Mundus Agency launched a probe into Mundus to investigate the Talathion Bands. Abramor was equipped with welkynd-soulgem arcane motors and was ordered to activate them within the range of the bands. After Abramor activated its engines, it shot off into outer Mundus at 620,140 miles per hour before quickly disintegrating into a ball of energy. The strength of the Bands was witnessed first-hand by Altmeri scientists. -
Numidium driven from Dawnstar
Although Numidium was invulnerable to damage, it nonetheless felt deep discomfort after a barrage of Imperial rockets and shells began to rain down upon its body. After weeks of fighting, Numidium departed from Dawnstar and fell back into the Sea of Ghosts, allowing the city a respite. All Nordic Cold Ones were exterminated by the Legion and order was restored in the Pale. -
Elections in Cyrodiil
After the state of emergency was lifted by Empress Eärwen, elections were held in Cyrodiil. The two pro-Eärwen parties, Imperial Conservative Party and Corporativist Party, both gained 65% of seats in the Elder Council, while the anti-Eärwen forces of the Syndicalist Party, the Progressive Party and the Imperial Liberal Party gained 35% of seats in total. High Chancellor Aurelius Gregorius regained his former position, with a slightly larger electoral majority than before. -
Plebiscite of Accession held in Valenwood
After the Kingdom of Valenwood declared its independence from the Aldmeri Dominion, a plebiscite was held on the question of further integration with the Empire. Three options were on the ballot: Valenwood joining with the Empire as a province, Valenwood joining the Empire as client state and Valenwood remaining independent. The first option won by a large margin, with 65% of Bosmer voting to join the Empire as a province. -
Numidium's powers understood
Thalmor Talons, who had arrived in Morrowind to investigate the process behind the creation of Cold Ones, took their data to the Thalmor Chimer. The Chimer discovered that Numidium used a mixture of necromancy and Conjuration magic to absorb souls of the living, corrupt them and reinsert them inside corpses to reanimate them as Cold Ones. This process required massive amounts of arcane power and the Chimer speculated that the Dragon League might've found a Daedric artifact. -
Kingdom of Valenwood joins the Empire
After a successful plebiscite, the Bosmer of Valenwood joined the Empire of Tamriel as its sixth province. Although Valenwood had been a part of the Dominion ever since it was created, the region never shared the Altmeri views of Elven supremacy and often fell victim to Thalmori political purges. The first Elvish nation to willingly join the Empire, the Bosmer were enthusiastic about the merger and were treated as equals by the other nations of the Empire. -
Argonians ordered to return to Argonia
The Hist trees, who had prescient knowledge about the Dragon League, released pheromones to order all Argonians to return to Argonia. All around Tamriel, Argonians quit their jobs and stopped their studies to travel to Argonia. Not all Argonians heeded the call and some stayed behind to continue their lives. Argonians who had arrived to Argonia coalesced around clusters of Hist trees, where they communicated with the Hist and held religious rituals. -
Military defections in the Empire
It was no secret that the radical ideologies of the League had a following in the Imperial Legion, but it was still surprising to see their support remain constant even after the League had conquered Morrowind. After Lord Marius's arrival, legionnaires began defecting from their army groups to venture to Morrowind and join Dragon League's troops. A majority of the defections occurred in Skyrim. -
The Hist and the Argonians negotiate
In Argonia, the Hist and the Argonians held discussions over the Dragon League. The Hist were aware that the League had plans to invade Argonia and were afraid that they might exterminate the Argonian race. Through dialogue, the Hist and the Argonians came upon a solution: all Argonians would depart from the mortal world and give their souls back to the Hist, who would safeguard them from the Dragon League until they could be reincarnated. Thus, the Departure began. -
The Departure begins
In accordance to the wishes of the Hist, Argonians began to commit suicides on a vast scale. In about a week, over 15 million Argonians had already killed themselves, mostly by ingesting poisonous roots. The souls of the dead Argonians returned to the Hist, who kept them hidden inside its roots, anchored deep within Nirn. Argonian souls spent their lives inside an Histic afterlife and waited until the threat of Dragon League was over. -
Tenebris-1 launched
The Imperial Navigators launched the Tenebris-1 probe to investigate Dibella. A large moon of Mara, Dibella had intrigued munduphysicists on Tamriel for hundreds of years. Although it was located far from Magnus and seemed to be devoid of life, Dibella emitted constant bursts of radioactivity towards Nirn, which were too regular to be caused by natural phenomena. Popular theories suggested that Dibella either harbored an extranirnial alien presence or that it was controlled by a Daedric Lord. -
The Departure ends
After a month had passed, all Argonians inhabiting Argonia had died and passed their souls to the Hist trees. Although the process was emotionally hard and broke up families and friendships, it was preferable to extermination. The Hist trees, after absorbing all the incoming souls, purposefully allowed their above-ground structures to wither in order to defend themselves from destruction. After the Departure, 55 million Argonian souls resided below Nirn, safe from harm. -
Tenebris-1 crashes on Dibella
Tebebris-1 had successfully approached Dibella. As it was getting ready to relay information to Tamriel, a burst of radiation overloaded the probe and caused it to fall onto Dibella. Before dying, Tebebris-1 sent back a photo it took from the surface of Dibella. The photograph allegedly showed the presence of mysterious buildings on Dibella. Although the "ruins" were dismissed by the Empire as an unknown natural phenomena, others suggested that the ruins resembled the Dwemer ruins in Skyrim. -
Dragon League invades Eastern Skyrim
Crossing the Morrowind-Skyrim border, the soldiers of the Dragon League engaged the Imperial Legion in Eastmarch. Although the Dragon League only had 150,000 active soldiers and lacked large numbers of tanks and fighters, their soldiers were fanatically loyal, proficient in magic and supported by the Numidium and the Cold Ones. Skies above Skyrim lit up in various colors as the Numidium used high-powered Destruction spells to kill legionnaires. -
Battle of Dragon Wood
The town of Dragon Wood was attacked by Dragon League forces, as it held a strategic radar base. Legio XVII Nascalus was tasked to defend Dragon Wood and retain control over the radar base. The Legio Nascalus used tanks and machine guns to deter the League from a direct assault. In a desperate attempt, the League tried to use suicide bombers to take the base. Their tactics failed, and the Imperial Legion won a decisive victory in Dragon Wood. -
Purges within the Empire
After Penitus Oculatus launched an investigation within the Empire to root out Dragon League sympathizers, many influential members of Synod, College of Whispers, Imperial Legion, Elder Council and the Penitus Oculatus were outed as Lord Marius's allies. Three of the ten largest companies in the Empire were discovered to be funneling hundreds of millions of septims to the Dragon League and were nationalized. Skyrim held smaller amounts of League sympathizers, and Hammerfell had almost none. -
Battle of Arngard
In the small Eastmarchian village of Arngard, the Dragon League had built a recruitment center for local Nords. Although small, the recruitment center processed hundreds of League-sympathizing Nords per day, arming and training them to fight the Empire. The Imperial Eagles airforce ordered its bombers to level the village. In an epic show of force, the entire village was bombed into history. -
Cell 005 raided
Hidden deep within the swamps of Western Argonia, the Dragon League had a massive prison complex called Cell 005. This complex was raided by the Penitus Oculatus, who freed over a thousand prisoners, most of whom were ex-members of the League. These prisoners had been kept in appalling conditions and were used in experiments. The discovery of these former members was a major victory for the Oculatus, as the League didn't permit its members to voluntarily leave from the organization. -
High Queen of Skyrim murdered by the League
High Queen Solveig Viggodottir, the first High Queen to reside in the Palace of Kings in Windhelm, fell victim to poisoning after she met with a citizen alliance advocating for appeasement. Suffering from extreme pain for two days, Viggodottir eventually died and was mourned across Skyrim. Investigations proved that the League was behind her death and her poisoners were imprisoned. -
Heavy fighting in Windhelm
Dragon League troops, supported by Nordic Cold Ones, launched numerous attempts to conquer Windhelm. The city was defended jointly by three Imperial Legions and numerous groups of Nordic volunteers. Although the League troops were in a distinct minority, the Cold Ones kept harassing the city's defenders and killed many of its inhabitants. Numidium, who had formerly attempted to invade Windhelm alone, was nowhere to be found. -
The Soul Array attacked by the League
The Soul Array was a massive installation of dozens of silos, all located in Western Tamriel and meant to deter the Dominion from attempting an invasion of the Empire. Although the silos were heavily guarded, the Dragon League still attempted to take over the Array and launch soul bombs. Penitus Oculatus forces were successfully used to flush the League's agents away from the Array. -
Windhelm begins to slip away
Although the Imperial Legion outnumbered the Dragon League, they failed to account for the Cold Ones, whose numbers grew with every new casualty. Soon, the Cold Ones outnumbered both the Legion and the League. Entire city blocks were abandoned to the ghastly beasts, who killed Nordic citizens with impunity. As Windhelm began to slip away from the Empire's grip, evacuations were performed to save the city's inhabitants from certain death. -
Thalmor Talons make an observation
Thalmor Talons, who were active within occupied Morrowind, noticed that although there were previously millions of Cold Ones in Morrowind, the amount of free-roaming Cold Ones seemed to decay with each passing day. After Talon agents shadowed the movements of the League within Morrowind, they discovered that the League was sending most Dunmeri Cold Ones into Mournhold, where they entered through a portal into the Colored Rooms. -
Fall of Windhelm
After the amount of Cold Ones within Windhelm reached a certain threshold, it became impossible to hold the city in the Empire's hands. All Imperial Legions retreated to defend Riften and Winterhold, leaving Windhelm to be conquered by the Dragon League. After cleansing the city of all pro-Empire elements, the League proclaimed Windhelm to be the Nordic capital of their new Empire. -
Fall of Dawnstar
Numidium, who had previously attempted to attack Dawnstar, re-emerged from the Sea of Ghosts and began to attack the city. This time, it was supported by Cold Ones from Windhelm, The Imperial Legion found it impossible to defeat the Numidium and retreated from the city. As a result, Dawnstar fell to the League. The League began turning the city's inhabitants into Cold Ones, leaving a token minority of Nords alive to showcase to the Empire that they cared about the lives of humans. -
Aldmeri Dominion gives monetary assistance to the Empire
Although the public of the Dominion felt like the Dragon League was exclusively an Imperial problem and that the Dominion shouldn't risk wasting Altmeri lives, the state was bound by the Tamrielic Council to aid the Empire. Archmagister Heriona Talathion authorized the transaction of 150 million riels to the Empire to be used to fight the Dragon League. Bretons, many of whom had family ties to Skyrim, volunteered to help internally displaced people. -
Hammerfell joins the war
The Elder Council demanded Hammerfell to do their part in defending the Empire. Prime Minister Harif Haniya ordered the Ra Gada Army to join the war in Skyrim. Soldiers from Hammerfell were deployed to defend the Rift from the League. Thanks to the low amount of League sympathizers within the ranks of the Ra Gada, the Redguards were considered to be more reliable than the Imperial Legion in Skyrim. -
Elections in Valenwood
In the first post-independence elections of Valenwood, the Royal Party of Valenwood (purple), formerly the Thalmor Party, won 65% of seats in the Bosmeri Parliament. The Green Brotherhood (green) won 25% of seats, and the rest were won by independent candidates (grey). The Royal Party of Valenwood secured an easy victory and continued their pro-Empire reign. Maenos Sagewind remained as the Chancellor. -
Profile: Maenos Sagewind
Maenos Sagewind was the Chancellor of Valenwood, 77 by 5E 336. A Thalmor Talon agent in his youth, Maenos's original pro-Altmer views changed after he personally witnessed how Bosmeri dissidents were routinely imprisoned, tortured and beaten to death for attempting to subvert the Thalmor rule. Maenos left the Talons and became one of the leading anti-Thalmor dissidents within the Dominion. Maenos was a humanophile, who collected Redguard bottled ships and owned a collection of Nordic tapestry. -
Misculkarans invented
The engineers of the Aldmeri Dominion constructed a true marvel of arcanoengineering - the Misculkaran. Misculkarans (Crystal Shields in Aldmeris) were massive floating warships, equipped with levitating arcanoemitters and fearsome Destruction magic cannons capable of leveling entire buildings in single bursts. Powered by powerful welkynd generators and helmed by hundreds of crewmen, Misculkarans entered the battlefields of Tamriel under the flag of the Dominion Miscurin fleet. -
Correnus Strategy launched
In order to liberate Northeastern Skyrim from the Dragon League, the Correnus Strategy was implemented. Named after Silatis Correnus, the General of the Legion, the Strategy would see the Empire use overwhelming force to dislodge the League from Eastmarch. According to the Strategy, major population centers would be reconquered first, as they provided the League with armies of Cold Ones. Numidium would be ignored as attention would be directed towards League's troops. -
Battle of Windhelm begins
Windhelm, the second-largest city in Skyrim, had fallen to the Dragon League. Its streets were littered with Cold Ones, who ravaged and looted the Nordic city with utter impunity. From Windhelm's northern and western flanks, four Imperial Legions, two battalions of Redguards, five divisions of Nordic volunteers and token amounts of Dominion battlemages attacked the city. Magic was used to eradicate the Cold Ones, as conventional weaponry was reserved strictly for killing the League. -
Battle of Dawnstar begins
Dawnstar had been turned into a major transformation center by the League, where tens of thousands of Nords were turned into Cold Ones. The city was attacked from the sea by Imperial Malleus battlecruisers, who used missiles to harass Numidium and keep him away from action. From its southern flank, two Imperial Legions and three divisions of Nordic volunteers attacked Dawnstar, concentrating on the League's human troops. -
Thalmor Talons take out a dangerous League sympathizer
After learning from various sources that a high-ranking Synod wizard by the name of Sirmius Ruminex was a Dragon League sympathizer, Thalmor Talons lured him inside a cafe located in Leyawiin. As he fled from the Altmeri special agents, Ruminex attempted to escape into a pocket dimension. He was cornered between a block of flats and executed on the spot. Although Penitus Oculatus didn't like being kept in the dark about Dominion's operations, they nonetheless congratulated the Talons. -
Liberation of Dawnstar
Dawnstar was liberated by Empire's forces after Numidium decided to leave the city. Remaining Dragon League soldiers were quickly dispatched and the Cold Ones were exterminated. Although the League's invasion damaged the city and caused civilian fatalities, Dawnstar was now safely back in Skyrim's hands. Tragedy ensued after returning Nordic civilians began to search for their loved ones, only to discover that they had turned into mindless monsters. -
Race riots in Cyrodiil
After Morrowind fell to the Dragon League, hordes of Dunmeri refugees began settling in County Cheydinhal. Their foreign culture, their xenophobic beliefs and their Daedric religion caused friction with the local communities. Both the Dunmer and the Imperials began forming paramilitary "self-defense" groups to defend their communities and lynch suspected criminals. In urban areas, situation deteriorated as the Dunmer protested against housing discrimination. -
Upgraders discovered
Soldiers liberating Eastmarch discovered that the Dragon League had began converting abandoned buildings into transformation centers. Called Upgraders, these facilities turned living beings into Cold Ones through the use of powerful soul gems called Orbs, which channeled Numidium's necromantic powers. Allowing the League to produce Cold Ones without the physical presence of the Numidium, these buildings were chosen as prime targets for bombing by the Imperial Eagles due to their vile nature. -
Liberation of Windhelm
Windhelm, a city with millions of inhabitants, was finally liberated after the Imperial Legion dislodged its occupiers. The Dragon League retreated from Windhelm and pulled back into Morrowind. Although some ares of Eastmarch were still under League's occupation, the liberation of Windhelm meant that the League's invasion of Skyrim had been a failure. Due to the invasion, Windhelm had turned into a ghost town, its formerly bustling streets now filled with abandoned cars and Cold Ones. -
Praesidium Act passed in the Empire
The Praesidium Act passed the Elder Council with a slight majority. The Act gave the Imperial law enforcement unprecedented rights to hunt down and imprison Dragon League sympathizers within the Empire's domain. Hundreds of politicians, businessmen and military officers were detained and interrogated. Although the Praesidium Act was criticized for allowing the Empire to accuse and torture essentially anyone for being a traitor, the Act nevertheless successfully reduced the League's influence. -
Eastmarch liberated
After a string of victories, the Imperial Legion felt confident enough to declare the League's invasion of Skyrim a failure. Eastmarch was liberated from under the League's control and returned to the Kingdom of Skyrim. Construction work began to repair the damage done to the cities of Windhelm and Dawnstar. Roving packs of Cold Ones remained a threat in Eastern Skyrim and required the continued presence of the Imperial Legion. -
Tyerion Supercomputer built
In an effort to better understand the fundamental forces behind the inner workings of Aurbis, the Tyerion Supercomputer was built by the Thalmor Chimer. Powered by a large relay of soulgem processors, the Tyerion Supercomputer was named after Tyerion Fardan, a senior researcher at the Auriel Arcanobooster, who allowed his soul to be trapped inside the supercomputer. As a result, the Supercomputer gained a minor form of sentience and often refused to process data it found "juvenile". -
"Marius Report" delivered to the Dominion
The Thalmor Talons spent half a year in Morrowind in order to better understand the Dragon League and their operations. After the Talons observed the League use portals to transport Dunmeri Cold Ones from Tamriel into the Colored Rooms, they deduced that the League had the capability to invade every major region of Tamriel. The alarmist "Marius Report" was delivered to Archmagister Talathion, Omniseer Rûdhon and the Thalmor Party, warning them of a possible attack on Altmeri soil. -
Order of Meridia discovers the Merid-Nunda
The Order of Meridia, a clandestine anti-League Daedric cult, searched for a way to end the League's invasion. Rummaging through an old library, the Order came across a book vaguely describing a series of four golden tablets, called the Merid-Nunda Prophecy. Written by a Second Era Ayleid researcher called Tjurhane Fyrre, the Prophecy offered a way to restore Lord Meridia to the Colored Rooms. However, by 5E 336, the four tablets had disappeared from their original locations. -
Synod contacts the Elder Council
After studying the inner workings of the Numidium, Synod contacted the Elder Council. They presented their conclusions and warned the Empire that the Dragon League was more than just a dangerous cult. They believed that the League possessed omniscient powers to extinguish all life on Tamriel. The Elder Council heeded the Synod's words, but remained on the side of caution and prohibited drastic anti-League action. -
The Astral Highway observed
The Astral Highway was a rare phenomena, during which balls of light shot across Nirn from north to south, starting from beyond Solitude and ending in southern Elsweyr. Last witnessed after the Third Great War had passed, the Astral Highway was seen by all Aedric religions as a message from the Gods to stop violence on Nirn. In the Imperial media, its appearance was connected with the Dragon League's failed invasion of Skyrim. This time, the Astral Highway lasted for two days. -
Numidium spotted in Haafingar
Numidium employed arcane powers to turn itself invisible, allowing the beast to travel large distances undetected. After Numidium disappeared from Dawnstar, it reappeared a month later in Haafingar, a few hundred miles from Solitude. Nordic locals spotted the Numidium standing motionless in a cotton field, with its eyes glowing. Imperial Eagles bombers were ordered to attack Numidium and force it to leave Haafingar. -
Dominion contacts the Elder Council
After receiving the "Marius Report" from Thalmor Talons, the government of the Aldmeri Dominion contacted the Elder Council and warned them of an imminent large-scale attack by the Dragon League. Although they had no knowledge of the projected location of the attack, the Dominion warned the Empire that the Dragon League had a theoretical army of fifty million Cold Ones, 250,000 Dragon League human soldiers, the Numidium and an unknown amount of conjured beasts. This warning came too late. -
The Cataclysm begins
Although Lord Marius had planned to begin his invasion of Tamriel right after Morrowind fell, his plans faltered as he held merciless power struggles with Lord Meridia and his own officers. After Lord Marius emerged victorious, he held a fearsome army of depraved creatures under his command. Thus, the Cataclysm was launched: an all-out assault on Tamriel with the intent to establish a new evil Empire of Men, built upon the corpses of non-human Tamrielians. -
Three portals open over Western Skyrim
Just before the midnight of 12th Midyear, people of Western Skyrim observed the skies above them change into a multitude of beautiful colors. In an hour, the colors all converged into three large portals, located above the cities of Solitude, Markarth and Whiterun. As these portals coalesced above the cities, the people observed them with glee, believing them to be some form of an unknown Aedric phenomena. Armies of the Empire stationed in Eastmarch were ordered to mobilize. -
Dragon League attacks Western Skyrim
Arriving through the portals, soldiers wearing gas masks began appearing on the streets of Solitude, Markarth and Whiterun. These soldiers ordered civilians to march into open spaces, shooting all resisters. After the soldiers identified themselves as Dragon League members, some sympathetic local Nords begged to be allowed to join them. These traitors were brought to Upgraders, where they were allowed to "join" the League as reanimated corpses. -
Portal opens inside Alinor
Inside the metropolis of Alinor, a massive ball of energy began to grow. After it reached a certain size, Dragon League soldiers came out from the portal and attacked the city. Unwilling to hide their intentions, the League soldiers opened fire on all Altmer they saw, regardless of their affiliation. As the citizens of the Dominion were well-educated in the arcane arts, the League troops had considerable troubles with subjugating them. -
Cold Ones appear from portals
From the portals in Summerset Isles and Skyrim, tens of thousands of Cold Ones poured out, instantly overwhelming their enemies. The hostile Cold Ones attacked all targets on sight. Although they were weak and not particularly fast, their sheer amount made all attempts to dispatch them using conventional weaponry futile. As the Cold Ones marched to kill their opponents, the League began converting captured civilians into new Cold Ones through the use of Upgraders. -
Storms cripple the Dominion Miscurin fleets
Massive waterspouts formed around the Summerset Isles, caused by arcane gravitational imbalance. These waterspouts were strong, rapidly-moving and appeared to deliberately target Altmeri warships. Dozens of battlecruisers, dreadnoughts and aircraft carriers were torn to pieces as the waterspouts removed the entirety of the Miscurin fleet from active duty. All surviving ships retreated into ports, where they were turned invisible in order to protect them. -
Numidium attacks Alinor
Numidium, which had laid dormant in Haafingar, activated itself and walked into Solitude. Crushing vehicles and people under its massive steps, Numidium walked until it reached the portal above Solitude. Numidium jumped inside the Colored Rooms and, after a few hours had passed, descended onto Alinor. Numidium began to engage Altmeri forces and turned locals into Cold Ones. Dominion Padoth Condors soon found that Numidium was invulnerable to damage. -
Destruction of Solitude
Solitude, the capital of Skyrim, was destroyed after thousands of meteorites began to fall from the skies. The center of the city was turned into a sea of fire, while the outer reaches of the city fell firmly under Dragon League's control. All Nordic forces who had arrived to reclaim the city were forced to retreat or face extermination. By this time, two million Cold Ones had entered Skyrim from the Colored Rooms. -
Government of the Dominion wiped out
Just like in Skyrim, thousands of meteorites devastated Alinor. The crystal towers of the Altmer shattered into pieces as firestorms raged in central Alinor. The government of the Dominion was eradicated in a targeted attack by the Dragon League. Archmagister Heriona Talathion was among the killed. Only Omniseer Veryan Rûdhon survived, as he had been away from Alinor. Rûdhon took control over the Dominion and began organizing resistance to the League. -
Second Invasion of Eastern Skyrim
As the Imperial Legion had began to advance towards Western Skyrim in an effort to liberate it from the Dragon League, they were attacked. Hordes of Cold Ones from Morrowind made a second attempt to invade Eastmarch. This time, the Rift was also invaded, bogging down the Redguard troops. Due to the timing of the invasion, the Imperial Legion was unable to liberate Western Skyrim from the League. -
Order of Meridia crippled
The Temple of Meridia in Anvil, housing the Order of Meridia, was attacked by the Dragon League. The Order was crippled in the assault and lost 90% of its members. Penitus Oculatus, investigating the burned-down Temple of Meridia in Anvil, finally learned of the existence of the Merid-Nunda Prophecy. -
Heavy fighting in Alinor
Heavy fighting started in Alinor after Dominion Mantia units were given orders by Omniseer Rûdhon to liberate Alinor from the League. Refugees started to evacuate the city as it became apparent that Alinor was doomed to fall to the League. -
The Empire orders the Dominion to disarm their nuclear weapons
Afraid of a potential catastrophe, should the League gain control over weapons of mass destruction, the Empire ordered the Dominion to disarm their nuclear missiles. In a desperate situation, High Chancellor Aurelius Gregorius ordered the Imperial Eagles to stand ready, in case it was necessary to remove Altmeri missile silos by force. -
Eastmarch falls
The Imperial Legion was rapidly losing ground to the League, who overran Empire's troops in all regions. Windhelm was lost after Cold Ones reconquered the city. Thus, the Hold of Eastmarch fell to the League for the second time. Imperial Legion abandoned their weapon depots and airbases as they quickly fled southwards, away from the League. -
Auriel Arcanobooster destroyed
A division of Dragon League detached from the main invasion force to occupy the Auriel Arcanobooster. After the local security forces were easily dispatched, the League attempted to enter the facility. Altmeri scientists inside the Arcanobooster decided to keep the facility from falling to the League by overloading its internal nuclear reactors. The Arcanobooster was destroyed in the resulting explosion, along with its plenitude of secrets. -
Kingdom of Skyrim collapses
The government of Skyrim had evacuated to Whiterun after Solitude was attacked. They were quickly located by the Dragon League, who directed Cold Ones to assault the city. The Nordic Moot, along with Prime Minister Olaf Andersen, were eradicated, dissolving the Kingdom of Skyrim. All remaining Nordic troops and government officials were subordinated to the Imperial Legion, who effectively took over the administration of Skyrim. -
Additional portals open over the Isles
Above the cities of Lilandril, Dusk, Firsthold and Sunhold, additional portals to Colored Rooms opened. Each portal brought millions of Cold Ones to the Summerset Isles. This was unprecedented, as the Summerset Isles hadn't been directly attacked ever since the beginning of the Fourth Era. Although the military of the Dominion was the most technologically advanced in Tamriel, it was taken by a surprise and failed to mount major resistance against the League. -
Unmitigated disaster in Skyrim
After the province was attacked from two sides by hordes of Cold Ones, Skyrim rapidly fell under League's control. Solitude, Windhelm, Dawnstar, Winterhold and Markarth had already fallen. Heavy fighting occurred in Riften and Whiterun. The Imperial Legion was retreating on all fronts, suffering from crippling defeats from the League. Nordic civilians fled the province through the Pale Pass, creating endless traffic jams along the way. -
Imperial Legion retreats from Skyrim
In an effort to reorganize and replenish their troops, the Imperial Legion retreated from Skyrim, leaving the province to be defended by Nordic and Redguard troops. Imperial generals drafted plans to liberate Skyrim from the League, but soon discovered that no meaningful plans could be created to free the province. It was decided that the Legion would attempt to liberate the province after a few months had passed. -
Cold Ones flood the Summerset Isles
By 1th Last Seed, the entirety of Western Summerset Isle was overtaken by Cold Ones. Heavy fighting overtook the cities of Cloudrest and Sunhold. Due to their strong magical capabilities, Altmeri Cold Ones were especially vicious. Dominion battlemages attempted to create large barriers to keep the Cold Ones away from population centers, but these temporary measures did little to save the Isles from devastation. -
Battle of Battlespire begins
The Second Academy of Battlespire, built by Synod to train battlemages and access planes of Oblivion, was attacked by Dragon League soldiers. The Synod was left alone to defend the Battlespire from the League, as the Imperial Legion had larger problems to worry about. -
Firsthold falls to the League
Firsthold, the second-largest city in the Summerset Isles, mounted strong resistance against the League. Dominion Miscurin fleets utilized the Misculkarans, huge floating warships, to defend the city. Although the Misculkarans were powerful, they offered no resistance to the Numidium, who crushed the expensive warships with joy. After two weeks of fighting, the city of Firsthold was abandoned to its fate. -
Destruction of Whiterun
Whiterun, the third-largest city in Skyrim, was the last major population center to resist the League. The invasion came suddenly and left no time for Nords to organize, but many evacuees from Solitude and Windhelm still joined voluntary battalions. Although average lifespan for these voluntary warriors was only a few days, they fought ferociously to allow families to escape to Cyrodiil. After two weeks of fighting, Whiterun fell to the Nordic Cold Ones. -
A delegation meets with Lord Marius
A group of councilors from the Imperial Conservative Party felt like Lord Marius could be bargained with, because he was a "sensible Imperial with understandable concerns about non-human races". Thirty councilors from the Elder Council made an unauthorized visit to Lord Marius in Mournhold. The meeting was brief: Lord Marius heard them out, but had no interest in cooperation. After the delegation was allowed to observe Lord Marius's hordes of Cold Ones in detail, they were executed. -
Heavy fighting in Alinor
The Altmer refused to surrender to the Dragon League. In Alinor, pockets of resistance fought ferociously with the invading Cold Ones, turning the beautiful city into a warzone. Heavy use of magic by both sides polluted the city with excess magicka, causing hallucinations and occasional spontaneous combustion of its defenders. The Altmer were surprisingly successful in their defense, and parts of Alinor remained in Dominion's hands. -
Argonia conquered by the League
The forces of the Dragon League crossed into Argonia. After they had thoroughly searched the province, the only sentient life they found were roving gangs of Khajiit scavenging in Argonian cities. The League had little knowledge of the Departure, and concluded that the Argonians must've fled to Cyrodiil. The former state of Argonia was occupied by the Dragon League and taken over by Cold Ones. -
Reclamation of Skyrim begins
Twelve Imperial Legions, four Ra Gada battalions, two divisions of Verauf Rangers and numerous volunteers attacked Skyrim from the Pale Pass in an effort to liberate the province. Under the orders of General Marcellus Flavius, the forces of the Empire were to advance through Southern Skyrim to reach Whiterun, which they would use as a bridgehead to reconquer the rest of Skyrim. As the cities of Falkreath and Riften still resisted the Dragon League, they were left out of the plans. -
Operation Impetus begins
As the Dominion proved unwilling to voluntarily dismantle its weapons of mass destruction, the Empire decided to take more drastic measures. Operation Impetus was launched, to neutralize Dominion's nuclear silos in the Summerset Isles. Bombers from the Imperial Eagles took off from their bases in Valenwood and flew across the Abecean Sea. The Dominion wasn't informed of the operation. -
Destruction of Sunhold
Sunhold, the third-largest city of the Isles, fell to the League after its defenders were forced to retreat. In retribution, Dominion Padoth Condor fighters bombed the League's troops in the city. These bombings did little to cull the ranks of the League and resulted in losses for the Dominion. The new government of the Aldmeri Dominion, which resided on an aircraft carrier in the port of Sunhold, evacuated from the city and sailed to Dusk. -
Battle of Riverwood
The forces of the Empire had barely exited the Pale Pass when they were attacked by Cold Ones in the city of Riverwood. In the resulting battle, Legio X Querrum, Legio XVII Adventus, Legio XIX Noctes, Ra Gada Fifth Army and Verauf Rangers Third Army were annihilated, killing 95,000 soldiers. The rest of the Empire's forces retreated to Oakwood, intending to reach Falkreath and establish a bridgehead. -
Battle of Battlespire ends

The Synod made modification to the plane of Oblivion the Battlespire was located in, discouraging future invasion attempts. -
Battle of Oakwood
In the Battle of Oakwood, the Dragon League won another decisive victory by crushing four legions and eliminating the entirety of Ra Gada armies. With the liberation of Skyrim turning out to be a total disaster, the remaining legions were thrown in disarray. Two legions arrived to defend Falkreath, one legion attempted to advance towards Whiterun and one legion fled back to Cyrodiil. The Verauf Rangers fortified the Pale Pass, allowing Nordic refugees to evacuate to Cyrodiil. -
Evacuation of Dusk
Facing an unprecedented calamity, Altmeri citizens of the Summerset Isles began looking for a way to escape the Isles. The government of the Dominion asked the Empire for help, due to their belief that the Empire was partly guilty for the Cataclysm by allowing the League to arise in the first place. Thousands of Imperial ships, both civilian and military, risked their lives to evacuate hundreds of thousands of Altmer to Cyrodiil. -
Reclamation of Skyrim declared a failure
After the Empire and its allies lost thousands of soldiers while gaining almost no territory, the Elder Council declared the Reclamation of Skyrim to be aborted. As the Empire lacked resources to defend its land from the League, Skyrim was doomed to live under the Dragon League. The Elder Council began to fund Synod and other similar organizations, who offered to find an arcane/divine end to the Cataclysm. -
Operation Impetus ends
After Operation Impetus was launched, the Empire used bombers to take out Dominion nuclear silos, to keep them from falling to the League. After a month of strategic bombing had concluded, the Eagles reported that the Operation had been a success. Only two nuclear missile silos remained unaccounted for, but were presumed destroyed. The Dominion made an official protest to the Empire for its violation of Dominion's sovereignty, but was in no position to enforce action against the Empire. -
A portal forms above Hammerfell
A portal of unmistakably Dragon League's creation formed above Sentinel, threatening to doom Hammerfell to a terrible invasion. All Redguard forces were ordered to convene in Sentinel and prepare for a fight. The Alik'r Desert and the Orcish settlement of Volenfell were seen as excellent natural battlefields to utilize, as the Cold Ones seemed to struggle in arid environments. -
Skyrim falls to the Dragon League
The invasion of Skyrim was so sudden and unprecedented that the Nords could offer almost no resistance to the League. In just five months, the province had fallen. Life in occupied Skyrim was harsh and dangerous: Nords who couldn't escape to Cyrodiil were constantly attacked by roving packs of Cold Ones. Although the League desisted in outright extermination, as the Nordic race played a part in Lord Marius's goals, the Nords nevertheless lived in poverty, misery and suffered from mistreatment. -
Life in Cyrodiil
Although Skyrim had fallen and the Empire itself was threatened with extinction, life in Cyrodiil remained cheerful and calm. The elites of the Imperial City were less concerned about the fates of the Nords than they were about the effect the Cataclysm was having on the Imperial economy. Millions of refugees flooding Cyrodiil were seen as harbingers of doom and were forced to live in special quarters. Schools still functioned, offices remained open and raunchy music was still played. -
Island of Auridon falls to the League
After Firsthold fell, it doomed the rest of the island of Auridon to subjugation, due to its leading role in Auridon's defense. Hordes of Cold Ones moving southwards encountered stiffening resistance. In the city of Silsailen, the locals were especially proficient in magic, which slowed the hordes down. Eventually, Altmeri resistance wore out and the island of Auridon fell to the League. -
Thalmor Chimer dissolves
The Thalmor Chimer lost many good wizards after Auriel Arcanobooster was destroyed. Without leadership, without funding and with their arcane research increasingly marginalized in favor of military spending, the Thalmor Chimer were crippled in the Cataclysm and lost their relevance. Surviving members of the Thalmor Chimer scattered all across Tamriel. Some joined the Synod and resumed their arcane research, while others returned to civilian life. As it was, the Thalmor Chimer were history. -
Cyrodiilic Perimeter grows
After Skyrim fell to the Dragon League, the Cyrodiilic Perimeter was expanded to cover the entirety of Cyrodiil's northeastern border. Legionnaires were ordered to patrol the Perimeter with absolute vigilance, to deter opportunistic Cold Ones from attempting to invade Cyrodiil. Life on the Cyrodiilic Perimeter was exciting and fairly safe, with almost no casualties among the defenders. Being ordered to defend Cyrodiil's borders was seen as paid vacation time among the legionnaires. -
Altmer enclaves created in major cities
Altmeri refugees from the Summerset Isles were unwilling to live side-by-side with the Imperials, whom they still considered to be beneath them. In major cities of Cyrodiil, the Altmer established ethnic enclaves called Altmerias, where they isolated themselves from the rest of Cyrodiil. These Altmerias were guarded by armed security forces and forbade non-Altmer to enter. These enclaves were funded by wealthy Cyrodiilic Altmeri families and ex-Dominion oligarchs. -
Alinor falls to the League
The defenders of Alinor held off the armies of the Cataclysm for longer than anyone expected. Although the main Dominion Mantia armies had long withdrawn from the area, pockets of Altmeri resistance bravely held off the Cold Ones in the face of annihilation, allowing citizens to flee from Alinor. One by one, the pockets were overran, until the last safe harbor fell. Alinor, the second-largest city on Tamriel, had fallen to the Dragon League, dooming the Aldmeri Dominion. -
Government of Dominion evacuates
Omniseer Veryan Rûdhon forbade his magistrates from leaving Summerset Isles, believing that such of a retreat would be catastrophic to the Altmeri prestige. However, after all major cities of Summerset Isles had fallen, Rûdhon had no choice but to leave. The government of Aldmeri Dominion evacuated from Dusk and arrived in Daggerfall, taking thousands of Thalmor Party members along with them. A temporary administration was set up in High Rock to govern the Dominion. -
Project Leyawiin started
After acquiring knowledge of the Merid-Nunda Prophecy, the Synod launched Project Leyawiin. Named after Leyawiin, the Project was headquartered in the Arcane University and co-opted the College of Whispers and the Penitus Oculatus. Synod ordered all agents of the Penitus Oculatus to search for the Merid-Nunda tablets, which apparently contained instructions on building some sort of a cross-dimensional weapon. The Project's main architect was a Dunmeri wizard named Vadusa Sarinith. -
Summerset Isles fall
Although the Altmeri resistance was fierce, they were no match to the tens of millions of Cold Ones. Resistance died out as the remaining armies of the Dominion were evacuated to High Rock. Massive barges carried Altmeri refugees to all corners of Tamriel, with most of them landing in Cyrodiil. The armies of Lord Marius had conquered the second most powerful state on Tamriel in just seven months, a truly chilling fact. -
Life in occupied Summerset Isles
The Dragon League's rule over the Summerset Isles was a genocidal one, with no one spared from certain death. Surviving Altmer were forced to hide in the ruins of their cities from the roving gangs of Cold Ones. As the Altmeri Cold Ones were especially strong, many Upgraders were built in the Isles. The largest Upgrader was installed inside the Crystal Tower. The Altmer were hunted like rats in their ancestral homelands and their population began dwindling. -
Invasion of Hammerfell begins
Two month ago, a large portal had opened above Sentinel. Right in the beginning of the year of 337, hordes of Cold Ones began pouring out from the portal, accompanied by Dragon League soldiers. The defenders of Sentinel had learned from previous invasions and installed machine gun nests around the city to slay attacking Cold Ones. The Redguard military shot artillery strikes into the portal in an attempt to close it. -
Numidium attacks Falinesti
After Summerset Isles had fallen, Numidium crossed the Eltheric Ocean and surfaced at Falinesti. It demolished the city, using its massive size to knock down buildings and trample civilians. As conventional weapons had no effect on it, the local military detachments were forced to stand by and watch the devastation. Floods of Bosmeri refugees fled the city in all directions, with most of them ending up in Southern Valenwood. -
Nuclear bombing of Daggerfall
After conquering the Isles, the Dragon League had found two working Dominion nuclear silos. Although one of them was unusable, the other one was fully functional and armed. The Dragon League launched the ICBM and sent it towards High Rock. The missile landed a few miles north of Daggerfall, devastating the massive city. 150,000 civilians died and major damage was done to the city's buildings. -
Portals open in Elsweyr
Above the cities of Senchal and Dune, two portals opened. The Khajiiti were intrigued about the portals and many tried to enter them. Their attempts were futile as hordes of Cold Ones poured out from the sky. Local Imperial Legion garrisons engaged the invaders. In Senchal, the defending legionnaires were immediately forced to retreat. In Dune, however, the Legion bravely stood their ground. The arid climate of Northern Elsweyr proved fatal to the Cold Ones. -
Three portals open above Valenwood
After Numidium's landfall, the province of Valenwood was already terrified. The local troops weren't prepared when three portals opened above the cities of Falinesti, Southpoint and Arenthia. During the first few hours, tens of thousands had already died as the Cold Ones relentlessly annihilated the fleeing civilians. Local Verauf Ranger army groups engaged the invaders, supported by garrisoned Imperial legionnaires. -
Soul Array dismantled
Afraid that the Dragon League might gain access to soul bombs, the Penitus Oculatus were dispatched to dismantle the Soul Array. Over 40 sites were dismantled, mostly in Hammerfell and Gold Coast. Three sites in Valenwood were unreachable, but contained no working missiles, as they were newly built. Thanks to the successful operation, the threat of S-bomb annihilation was removed from the Empire's worries. -
Two portals open above High Rock
Above the cities of Daggerfall and Wayrest, portals of Cataclysm opened. As the Dominion had already lost most of its soldiers in the Isles, it stood no chance against the League. Local Bretonic army units faced the Cold Ones alone and took heavy casualties. Daggerfall, which had previously been devastated by a nuclear missile, took the invasion particularly hard. Refugees departed from High Rock and flooded the docks of Anvil. -
Heavy fighting in Sentinel
The Ra Gada armies turned the city of Sentinel into a fortress by sealing off streets with machine gun nests. All able-bodied civilians were forced to pick up weapons and defend the city: no one was allowed to retreat. Furthermore, Orcish troops from Volenfell were ordered to come to the aid of their homeland. As a result, hundreds of thousands of Cold Ones were slain and Sentinel remained in Redguard hands, albeit as a warzone. -
Invasion of Western Reach begins
The Dragon League launched a land-based invasion of Western Reach, attacking the kingdom from all three sides. Arriving Cold Ones were swept up by radioactive tornadoes, killed by nirnquakes, torn apart by magical anomalies and hunted down by Reachmen fighters. As Western Reach had almost no large cities and a very mobile population, Dragon League's urban-based tactics had little success. -
Tamrielic Council merges with the Empire
As sovereign states continued to fall, the Tamrielic Council lost its original meaning. The Empire of Tamriel proved unwilling to fund the now-redundant establishment and gave them the option of joining the Empire. The Council accepted, and merged with the Empire as a governmental peace-keeping branch. The Tamrielic Council, mostly staffed by members of the Progressive Party, now began coordinating refugee movements within Cyrodiil and helped newcomers to settle in their new homes. -
Government of High Rock wiped out
Omniseer Goueznou Gouedard, a man instrumental in leading Bretons away from the Empire and towards the Dominion, died after a botched evacuation attempt stranded him in the middle of a horde of Cold Ones. Archmagister Marc Maollosa, the man credited for turning the Aldmeri Dominion into the richest state on Tamriel, died in a shootout after his secret hideout in Northern High Rock was penetrated by Dragon League agents. -
Heavy fighting in Valenwood
As the Imperial Legion pulled its troops out from Valenwood, the Verauf Rangers were left to fight the League on their own. Falinesti was the first to fall, followed by the cities of Southpoint and Arenthia. The League organized a shield of Cold Ones along the Strid River in an attempt to discourage people from fleeing to Cyrodiil. Heavily-armed Bosmer from rural Valenwood mercilessly hunted the Cold Ones entering their villages, keeping the countrysides free. -
Government of Dominion relocates to Cyrodiil
The government of Aldmeri Dominion was no longer safe in High Rock. As Cyrodiil was the only province to still stand, the Dominion fled to Cyrodiil. The Dominion-in-exile government was set up in Skingrad, led by Omniseer Rûdhon. Along with the government arrived four Dominion Mantia armies, the entirety of Thalmor Talons, two Misculkarans and droves of wealthy Altmeri elites. -
Heavy fighting in Elsweyr
The cities of Rimmen, Senchal and Alabaster had fallen to the League. This fact didn't deter the Khajiit from fighting back. In the deserts of Anequina, Khajiit held religious processions, ate moon sugar, drank skooma and attacked the incoming Cold Ones. The berserking Khajiit tore apart the Cold Ones and severely diminished their movements within Anequina, forcing them to stay in the more urbanized Pelletine. -
"Reconquest" myth promulgated
Among the Altmer and the Dunmer refugee communities of Cyrodiil, the Reconquest Myth was promulgated. According to the myth, the Empire and the Dragon League were closely allied in their wish to restore human supremacy in Tamriel and accordingly, the Cataclysm was engineered by the Empire and by Empress Eärwen Tiberius personally. Although the myth was completely nonfactual, it found adherents in the Elvish refugee communities of Cyrodiil, who found it hard to accept their new lives as refugees. -
Order restored in Sentinel
Through sheer willpower, the Redguard defenders of Sentinel restored order to the city. All Cold Ones were killed and Dragon League soldiers captured. The portal above Sentinel remained open, but no new invaders came out. Victorious, the Redguards attempted to fly fighter planes into the portal in an attempt to stop the invasion. As soon as the planes crossed into the Colored Rooms, their pilots were vaporized. This curious phenomena proved that the Colored Rooms were inaccessible from Tamriel. -
Destruction of Wayrest
Wayrest, the second-largest city in High Rock, was demolished in a League-inflicted meteorite strike. Its ruined skyscrapers were turned into Upgraders, where ordinary Bretons were processed into Cold Ones. These new Cold Ones were sent towards Western Reach, where the League was fighting a losing war against the relentless Reachmen. Wayrest itself became a ghost town, a burning shell of its former splendor. -
Imperial Constitution suspended
As the Cataclysm devoured regions surrounding Cyrodiil, the Empire realized that its days were coming to an end. In a move jointly approved by Empress Eärwen, High Chancellor Gregorius and the Elder Council, the Imperial Constitution was suspended, declaring a perpetual state of emergency. Torture, preventive detention, extrajudicial killings and widespread surveillance were used by Imperial law enforcement to root out Dragon League sympathizers in Cyrodiil. -
Western Reach resists the League
Although Western Reach was a wretched region, it fought back against the League with extraordinary ferocity. Cold Ones entering the Kingdom were hunted with such fervor that the League had to start diverting additional Cold Ones from Skyrim and High Rock to conquer the province. All Upgraders built by the League were destroyed by the Reachmen. Thanks to the courage of the Reachmen, Western Reach became the only region in Tamriel to wage a winning war against the Dragon League. -
Slaughter of Rimmen
During warfare in the Khajiiti city of Rimmen, Dragon League soldiers massacred the local Khajiit with ruthless impunity, killing 5,000 civilians in cold blood. This scene of depravity was filmed by an Imperial military crew and made rounds in Cyrodiil, convincing the Cataclysm-distant Imperials that the League had to be exterminated. Masses of refugees from Elsweyr were settled in Bravil and Leyawiin, leading to occasional flareups of ethnic tensions. -
The Second Tablet found
Although crippled, the Order of Meridia successfully located and recovered the second tablet of the four Merid-Nunda tablets. In utter secrecy, the Order began to construct the Transformer, described in the second tablet as a relic playing a large role in fulfilling the Prophecy and ending the Cataclysm. Due to the vagueness of the tablet and the Order's hatred of outsiders, their effort to construct the Transformer was slow, underfunded and understaffed. -
Three additional portals open above Hammerfell
Although the invasion at Sentinel was brushed off by the Redguards, the Cataclysm returned to Hammerfell's shores. Three additional portals opened above Hammerfell, in the cities of Hegathe, Rihad and Gilane. The tactics that had led to a success in Sentinel were reused in these cities to defeat the League. Island of Stros M'Kai remained free from the Cataclysm and accepted large amounts of Redguard refugees. -
Gregorius Plan drafted
The Imperial Legion was willing to try once more to liberate Tamriel from the Dragon League. As their previous attempt to liberate Skyrim ended in a terrible catastrophe, a new plan was accepted: the Gregorius Plan. Named after the High Chancellor, the Gregorius Plan projected the Empire to use smaller, more dynamic legionnaire squads to contact resistance members in Skyrim and bolster their ranks. 250,000 Altmeri troops from the evacuated Dominion Mantia joined the Plan. -
Heavy warfare in Sentinel
The valiant defenders of Sentinel were forced to fight with hordes of undead monsters, who overran important city districts. The financial district of Yashar, where the richest Hammerfellian corporations housed their headquarters, had now turned into a battlefield. The young men and women of Hammerfell defended every inch of their homeland with fanatical devotion, allowing mothers, children and old people to evacuate from the city. -
Valenwood falls to the Dragon League
After the major population centers of Valenwood had fallen, there was nothing that could be done to save the Bosmer. Valenwood fell to the Dragon League, who launched their ethnic genocide programs to destroy the Bosmeri race. Queen Desnia Thorontur fled to Cyrodiil. Some resistance remained in the heartlands of Valenwood, which were never pacified by the League. Inspired by tales of Bosmeri heroes, these fighters refused to submit to the League and vigilantly defended their communities. -
Race riots in Cyrodiil
The recent outpouring of refugees from every corner of Tamriel intensified the existing racial tensions in Cyrodiil. The Dunmer, the Altmer and the Khajiit were treated like aliens by the Imperials and faced the worst discrimination. Vile rumors and unjustified fears spread, and some communities in Colovia were turned into "sundown" towns, where non-humans were deemed unwelcome as the sun went down. -
Battle of Volenfell
The Orcish settlement of Volenfell was attacked by Cold Ones, running across the Alik'r Desert. They were greeted by legions of Orcs, wielding flamethrowers and miniguns. The Battle of Volenfell began, during which many captured Orcs were turned into Orcish Cold Ones, the strongest variety of Cold Ones to exist. The battle itself was arduous and brutal, with no survivors left by either side. -
Operation Mane performed
The religious leader of Elsweyr had traditionally been the Mane, a large Khajiiti of unique breed, who lived in Torval and offered guidance to his people. As Torval was under siege by the Dragon League, the Daughters of Elsweyr were called to evacuate the Mane. In a daring operation, the Daughters arrived in attack helicopters, secured the Mane's Palace, evacuated the Mane and fled back to Cyrodiil. -
High Rock falls to the Dragon League
The city of Northpoint, located in the birch-covered northern reaches of High Rock, was the last Bretonic stronghold to fall. Its defenders prayed to the Nine Divines for deliverance from evil. As the Cold Ones entered the city and dragged people to their deaths, the defenders of the city realized that their prayers went unheeded. Thus, they surrendered and were turned into Cold Ones. The city of Northpoint fell, and the province of High Rock had fallen under a terrible occupation. -
A breakthrough made in Dwemeri research
Arima Yosoko, a Redguard researcher from the College of Whispers, had discovered that a book, found from the Dwemeri ruin of Arkngthand, contained references to a Cyrodiilic Dwemeri settlement called Zirinzulft, located near Lake Poppad. Arima led a team to use magical field detectors above the lake to discover Zirinzulft. Her team found no magical fields, but they did discover a 119.2 km² wide area below the lake which actively blocked the detector's signals. -
Life in High Rock during the occupation
In High Rock, the Dragon League went full speed with their campaign of extermination. Although the Bretons were considered a human race by everyone on Tamriel, the Dragon League considered the Bretons to be Elves, only because of their early genetic contact with the Altmer. As a result, High Rock faced extreme poverty, with all crops burned, all power lines cut and ravaging hordes of Cold Ones roaming the countrysides. -
Project Leyawiin makes a discovery
Penitus Oculatus successfully located the first tablet of the four Merid-Nunda tablets. The first tablet described the Barrel, a cross-dimensional weapon capable of ending the Cataclysm by destroying the Numidium, Lord Marius and the hordes of Cold Ones in an instant. However, the enthusiasm of the Project's members was tampered by the fact that the Barrel needed four elements in order to work: the Vessel, the Fuel, the Transformer and the Latchkey. The nature of these elements was unknown. -
Gregorius Plan cancelled
Empress Eärwen Tiberius believed that there was no military way to defeat the League and that the Imperial Legion's only job was to win time for Project Leyawiin. Her High Chancellor, Aurelius Gregorius, believed that the Project was a waste of time. Acting on her beliefs, Empress Eärwen canceled the Gregorius Plan and ordered the Imperial Legion to prioritize the defense of Cyrodiil's major cities. This move made her extremely unpopular outside Cyrodiil's borders. -
Battle of Evermore
The Dragon League advanced towards Evermore, the capital city of Western Reach. Three days after fighting commenced, 1/3 of League's invading army had already died from a combination of toxic pollution, Reachmen resistance and radiation poisoning. The Reachmen used defilers, large cannons filled with radioactive waste, to rain toxic sludge onto Dragon League soldiers. In the end, the League had to retreat and the Reachmen scored a victory over the armies of the Cataclysm. -
Battle of Rihad
The city of Rihad was located directly north to the border with Cyrodiil, across the Brena River. As such, Imperials living near the border bore witness of the horrors of the Cataclysm. Tens of thousands of terrified refugees swam across the river, followed by Cold Ones. Imperial legionnaires guarding the border had standing orders not to interfere, and were traumatized by the sheer amount of bodies flowing down the river. -
A heavy burden
Empress Eärwen Tiberius was wracked with stress, guilt and anxiety. The burden of being a leader during wartime weighed heavily on her. Eärwen was certain that she wouldn't survive the Cataclysm. In fact, she was certain that no one would survive the Cataclysm but Lord Marius alone. As the days went darker and life seemed duller, the only positive thing that she could think of were Fabius Lucius's last words, an ancient Colovian adage: "Better lose your eye than your honor." -
Battle of Corinthe
Numidium had crossed from Valenwood to Elsweyr and brought along with itself an army of reanimated Bosmer. This invading force advanced into Corinthe and turned the city into a slaughterhouse. Some of the braver Daughters of Elsweyr agents climbed on top of Numidium in an attempt to find a structural weakness. They found none and were thrown off its back. Numidium destroyed Corinthe and walked northwards, towards its next target. -
Battle of Hnes Rax
Hordes of the Cataclysm reached the Hnes Rax Peninsula, a star-shaped land mass to the east of Hunding Bay. Cold Ones overran the tourist spots along the peninsula and entered refugee-housing bomb shelters built in the center of Hnes Rax. The Ra Gada Hunters airforce used this opportunity to attack the Cold Ones, using cluster bombs for maximum damage. -
Government of Hammerfell evacuates
President Kayina Addis and the Senate of Hammerfell decided to relocate to Cyrodiil, for their own safety. Prime Minister Harif Haniya resisted the evacuation and stayed behind in Hammerfell. Haniya became a legend after he picked up a gun and joined the Ra Gada soldiers, to fight alongside his people. The Government of Hammerfell set up their headquarters in the city of Chorrol and worked to coordinate civilian evacuations and to lobby for Redguard interests in Cyrodiil. -
The Barrel identified
After the first Merid-Nunda tablet was fully deciphered, the Barrel was identified as the White-Gold Tower itself. Apparently, the Ayleids, who built the White-Gold Tower in the Merethic Era, had originally intended it to be a superweapon of immense strength. After the Alessian Empire overthrew the Ayleids, it was permanently locked down. According to the first Merid-Nunda tablet, the Latchkey was required to unlock its original purpose. Project Leyawiin began to search for the Latchkey. -
Elsweyr falls to the Dragon League
The Khajiit had admirably defended their homeland, surpassing all Imperial estimations on their defense capabilities. Fueled by moon sugar, Khajiiti fighters used their claws and teeth to rip the Cold Ones apart. The Empire organized railways to transport Khajiiti refugees from Elsweyr to Cyrodiil, but were forced to scale down their efforts after it became apparent that Khajiiti criminal gangs were using the trains to transport refined moon sugar to Bravil. -
Forsworn wiped out
The Forsworn were a violent cult of Reachmen who called the Reach of Skyrim their home. For at least a thousand years, they had terrorized Nords in Eastern Skyrim who were unfortunate enough to cross into their lands. The Dragon League managed to do something that the Nords never could: they destroyed the Forsworn. The Forsworn were known to engage in necrophilia and probably died in ecstasy as they were torn apart by the reanimated corpses of the Nords. -
Terrorist attacks continue in Cyrodiil
The Dragon League, whose intense pro-Imperial views won them some converts in Cyrodiil, had a presence in Colovia. Pro-League terrorists committed series of car bombings in Kvatch, killing influential members of the government in the process. Thanks to misinformation and League propaganda, the League sympathizers believed that Skyrim was living in splendor after they were conquered by the League. -
The Last Stand legislated
The Elder Council passed the Last Stand, a legislation declaring the Empire to be in a state of total war. All industrial production was ordered to be shifted towards the production of war materiel. All men aged 18-32 were ordered to train in warfare and enlist in the Legion when required. Guns were freely passed around in major Cyrodiilic cities to allow citizens to defend themselves. Project Leyawiin was given a lot of funding to bring about results. -
Fall of Volenfell
The Orcish capital of Volenfell finally fell after months of warfare. The nature of the battle was best summarized by Sharul gra-Grugurz , a factory worker who gave an interview to the Colovian Observer magazine: "those fucks were everywhere [...] I had to walk over their corpses to get to work [...] uglier than Imperials, but prettier than those furry freaks from else where [...] I can still taste their blood when I eat [...] I think I left my fridge open." -
Knowledge of the Merid-Nunda Prophecy so far
In order to end the Cataclysm, the White-Gold Tower (the Barrel) had to be transformed into a superweapon of omnipotent power. In order to do this, the Latchkey was required. The Fuel was required to provide the Barrel with enough energy to function. The Vessel was required to carry the Fuel to the Barrel. The Transformer was needed to release the Fuel from the Vessel and channel it into the Barrel. Although complex and vague, the Merid-Nunda Prophecy was the only option to end the Cataclysm. -
Second Battlespire becomes the new hub for Project Leyawiin
The Battlespire Academy was an isolated building, located far away from Tamriel and accessible only to members of Synod. Synod made a decision to move the headquarters of Project Leyawiin to Battlespire, to keep their plans from being discovered by Dragon League agents. The Battlespire was a truly self-sufficient world, growing its own food and powering itself with a welkynd array. Regular teleportation between Tamriel and Battlespire began, and Empress Eärwen paid a visit to the facility. -
Hammerfell falls to the Dragon League
By 5E 337, Hammerfell had acquired a nickname. It was called "Fortress of Tamriel". This was due to the fact that in all of its history, Hammerfell had only been conquered twice: once by Tiber Septim, and once by the Empire after the Third Great War. Now, Hammerfell had fallen for the third time, to the forces of the Dragon League. Due to the fact that the Redguards were humans, the occupation wasn't as brutal as in other areas of Tamriel, but only marginally so. Life was still harsh and deadly. -
Cyrodiil stands alone
Cyrodiil had become the last free-standing province of Tamriel. By now, fear and anxiety had began to spread in the Imperial Province, replacing the former flippant attitudes felt towards the Cataclysm. So far, only small groups of Cold Ones had attempted to attack Cyrodiil, but no major invasions had occurred. The Empire was not prepared when scouts reported that literally tens of millions of Cold Ones had gathered behind the Cyrodiilic Perimeter, accompanied by the Numidium. -
