Americans attempted to invade Canada over some disputes between Britain. During this time, Canadian defenses were small, so they were prone to attacks from the south. Amazingly, the Canadians secretly knew moments before the war and prepared to defend. They succeeded. -

Some people in Canada were not happy about the new leaders and rules. Therefore, they organized groups to create a rebellion. They did not succeed. -
The Great Coalition Formed
Came to a conclusion regarding the Political deadlock between Canada East and Canada West. The new government structure that we still have today called federalism was created. This allows the elected representatives to have the most power, but also allowing the leading opposition to have some say. -

Canada Comes into Existence (Confederation!)
Confederation was one of the top events in Canada's history because Canada wouldn't exist without it. Confederation brought Canada's first ever provinces to form a country! This included Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. -

The battle of Vimy Ridge was Canada's first battle into the First World War. All four of Canada's provinces at the time teamed up together to fight. This continued to pave the way for Canada to become more independent. To this day, it is celebrated widely as a victory and representation of Canadian pride.
