Pi Yu as the New Emperor
The Chinese Emperor died, leaving a two year old child in his place; for this reason his broher, Pi Yu, as the new Emperor. But during his ruling time peasants were charged with more taxes than bafore and no socio-economic progress was made. -
Double Tenth Revolution
The ruling dynasty (Qing dynasty) was overthrown by this movement which began when the government lost control over the military. As a result of this movement a Republic was created. -
Yuan Shikai becomes president.
The first temporal president of China was Sun Yixian, but the abdicated in 1912 agreeing on leaving Yuan Shikai as the fist Chinese president. -
Yuan Shikai proclaims himself Empero of China.
After three years of being in the presidence Yuan Shikai proclaimed himself emperor of China, as a consecuence of this, he lost the sipport of the military and stood down. Three months after that he died. -
May Fourth Movement
Students and intellectuals led a mass demonstrations in Beijing against the warlords. This even was dedicated to change and the rebirth of China. -
1920´s divided China
One of the most important reasons of civil war in China was the lack of unity. After the abdication of Yuan Shikai,China broke into small procinces, each one of them controlled by a warlord. They suffered from continuous wars. -
The Fist United Front
The Fist United Front was created by the two existing politival parties in China, the GMD (led by Jisng Jieshi) and the CCP (communits party). They agreed to work together in order to get ris of the warlords. -

The Northern Expedition
The GMD and CCP planned the Northern Expedition to crush the warlords. They took Beijing in 1928, and within two years the United Front they destroyed the power of warlords. -
The White Terror
After the dafeat of warlords Jian, leader of the GMD, turned back on the CCP and thought that China could not be unified until the CCP was crushed. On April 1927, the persecution and expell of the communist bagan, reaching a peak in Shangai in the Withe Terror. -
Civil War Begins
By the end of 1927 the CCP was nearly crushed, their olnly hope to survive from the persecition of the GMD was to flee to the mountains. The GMD pursued them, decided to eliminate the communist. With this event, the Chinese Civil War starts.
