1.1 TIMELINE

  • Institution of Civil Engineers

    Institution of Civil Engineers
The Institution of Civil Engineers was founded.
It was created mainly due to the lack of scientific study by a group of young men in 1818. The founders were passionate about learning from one another and from their elders. After two years, the members asked Thomas Telford if he wanted to be their president, and he agreed. Thomas Telford later attracted more members into the society from overseas and UK.
  • First thermodynamics study

    First thermodynamics study
French physicist Sadi Carnot, in his research "on the motive power of fire", was the first to study the thermodynamics of combustion reactions in steam engines.
  • The American Society of Civil Engineers

The American Society of Civil Engineers
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) was founded in United States. It was the first society of engineering ever founded in USA.
  • Large scale steel processing

    Large scale steel processing
In Bessemer develops a process to manufacture steel on a large scale.
  • Alfred Nobel develops the dynamite.

    Alfred Nobel develops the dynamite.
  • Cellulose

    Cellulose
Alexander Parkes invents cellulose and is considered the Father of Plastics.
  • Works in USA of Thermodynamics

    Works in USA of Thermodynamics
At Yale University in the period 1873-1876, the American mathematical physicist Josiah Willard Gibbs, was the first in the United States to lead a series of three papers "developing a graph-based mathematical methodology for the study of chemical systems using Clausius thermodynamics".
  • Society of Chemical Industry(SCI)

    Society of Chemical Industry(SCI)
The Society of Chemical Industry was founded in a meeting in London. The people gathered at the meeting were, the first president of the society, Sir Henry Roscoe, followed by a group of scientists like George E. Davis(the father of chemical engineering), among others. In the meeting it was agreed that a journal should be started, one that later became the Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology
  • Handbook of Chemical Engineering

    Handbook of Chemical Engineering
George E. Davis published the book "Handbook of Chemical Engineering"
  • American Institute of Chemical Engineers

    American Institute of Chemical Engineers
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers is a professional organization is an institute for engineers that was established in 1908 to distinguish chemical engineers as an independent profession from chemists and mechanical engineers. With more than 60,000 members from more than 110 countries, AIChE has the breadth of resources and expertise you need whether you are in core process industries or emerging areas, such as translational medicine.
  • 1st Chemistry school

    1st Chemistry school
After the start of the Mexican Revolution, the 1st chemistry school was created: the National School of Industrial Chemistry founded in 1917
  • chemical engineering in mexico

    chemical engineering in mexico
Estanislao Ramírez was introduced to the study of Chemical Engineering in our country, teaching his first courses from 1925 to 1933 and, later, he entered the National Polytechnic Institute where he founded the career of Industrial Chemical Engineer, being one of its first professors. For these reasons he is considered the founder of chemical engineering in Mexico.
  • Foundation of the first chemical industry in Mexico

Foundation of the first chemical industry in Mexico
The chemical industry itself started in 1938 when the Compañía Industrial de los Reyes was incorporated, which built a primitive plant to produce sodium carbonate by calcining tequesquite from Lake Texcoco.
  • Tetraethyl

    Tetraethyl
Foreign companies refused to sell tetraethyl lead to Mexico (an essential product for gasoline). The government immediately built a plant to obtain it and hired the services of numerous chemical engineers to produce gasoline. Finally, foreign companies resumed their sales tetraethyl as the technical capacity of the Mexican professional.
  • Beginning of the Petrochemical industry

    Beginning of the Petrochemical industry
With the start of sulfur production by PEMEX and with the start of the first Dodecylbenzene (DDB) unit, to be used in detergents. In the years later, the Petrochemical Industry grew at a rate
    accelerated.
