  • Charles Montesquieu

    Charles Montesquieu
    Charles Montesquieu greatly impacted the American government, and the U.S constitution by contributing to the idea of the different branches in government. He suggested that branches of government should be unconnected and represent different government forms.

  • Sam Adams

    Sam Adams
    Sam Adams was a Founding Father who objected against British Taxes independently in 1765 and rebelled against another parliament acts later. This is part of what sparked and brought together the U.S colonies to fight for their own independence throughout the Revolutionary War.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre originated from a small street fight. The British soldiers then got involved and it turned into this big "Massacre" This important fight allowed the U.S colonies to join together and sparked a rebellion against the British.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a revolution. It was the way the colonists were able to stand up to the British empire, and rebel against their rules. It was the representation of them breaking away from the Brits.
  • Minutemen

    Minutemen
    The minutemen were highly intelligent trained fighters used in battle during the American Revolution and other important battles. They were so prepared that they were able to fight within about a minute's notice, hence their title.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress (made up of all the colonies except for Georgia) assembled in Philadelphia in order to discuss a rising against parliaments acts. In this case, it was the Coercive Acts.
  • John Locke

    John Locke
    John Locke presented many ideas and theories that have benefited our country and government, some of his ideas include checks & balances. He also impacted the founding fathers by presenting his thoughts on a revolution, he claimed that a revolution was not just a right of the colonies, but a responsibility for them to claim their freedom!

    Paul Revere
    On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere set off to Lexington warning Samuel Adams and Jhon Hancock that the British were on their way. Along the ride, Paul placed lanterns as a warning sign.

    The Second Continental Congress meeting was held in order to discuss the Revolutionary war and establish war strategies, training armies to fight, writing disquisitions, choosing a person to represent the U.S, and just overall preparing for the upcoming fight against the British.

    The Declaration of Independence states all of the horrid things the King has done, and why the colonists want to break free from his rule and start their own society. It also lists some new sets of rules or standards that the colonists want to abide by.

    John Hancock
    John Hancock served in Boston as one of the leaders of the State during the time of the Revolutionary War. He also took part in the Continental Congress, and with his position in Congress, as president of it, he was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.

    The Hessians were hired troops from Germany. They fought on the side of Britain in the American Revolution.

    The Articles of Confederation were the first layout of that the government would be like, it was written after the Revolution, and the U.S had freedom from Brittian. The rules and expectations recorded in the document ended up backfiring, so the U.S wrote the Constitution in its place.

    The French and the U.S colonies began allies during the American Revolution. As the United States fought against the British, the French would supply them with needed materials such as weapons (gunpowder, cannons) and clothing.

    Hamilton was very helpful in financing after the war. A lot of states were in debt, so Hamilton was placed in charge by George Washington. He started the First Bank of the United States.

    Benedict Arnold fought in the American Revolution as acting general in the Continental Army. He later betrayed the United States and fought with the British.

    The Treaty of Paris was a document that declared an end to the American Revolution. It was signed by both the British and the United States.

    The Constitution laid out rules for the New Colonies of the U.S granting them their rights as Americans. This document was written after the Revolutionary War had ended and the U.S had gained its independence.
