    ANTIQUITY
    During antiquity, there were two main ethnicities, each with their own language, and their religious beliefs involved Animism, Polytheism, and Hinduism. The two main ethnicities were the *ARYANS, who spoke *INDIC, and the *DRAVIDIANS who spoke Dravidian. Their religious beliefs involve the idea of spirits living in nature which is called *ANIMISM, and the belief in many gods which is called *POLYTHEISM. These beliefs were part of *HINDUISM (religion that originated in South Asia.)

    MUSLIMS INVADE

    MUSLIMS INVADE
    Muslims began invading in the 700's CE and this impacted the Pakistan religions. Later on, in the 1500's the *MUGHAL EMPIRE (kingdom in Northern India.) was formed by Muslims. It was started by *GENGHIS KHAN (founder of the Mongol Empire). His grandson named Kublai Khan was the greatest successor of Genghis Khan. The Mongols conquered many parts of Pakistan after the death of Genghis Khan. It was during the reign of his son and successor, that the Mongol Empire began to enlarge. 96.5 are Muslims

    BALOCHS MIGRATE

    *BALOCHS began migrating from the 1300's to the 1850's, and this impacted the religion and the ethnicities of the Pakistan region. The original homeland of the Baloch people is Plateau of Iran. An invasion by the Seljuk Turks in the 11th century encouraged the Baloch to migrate eastward. Over hundreds of years, they moved across what is now Iran into Pakistan. Balochs society is based on extended- family groups called clans. The Balochs are Muslims. They only make up 3.6% of the population.

    BRITISH CONTROLLED
    The British Controlled Pakistan in 1850, and this impacted its religions, ethnicities, and its languages. The Pakistan region was a part of British India until the mid-20th century. The parts with more *HINDUS (a follower of Hinduism.) became India. Pakistan included two regions: West and East Pakistan. When the new boundaries were formed, many Muslims left India for Pakistan due to the fighting between the two groups left thousands of people dead. They both want their region called Kashmir.

    TODAY
    The main ethnicity and language of Pakistan today is *PUNJABI, and the main religion is *ISLAM. A few more ethnicities are the PASHTUN, SINDHIS, the BALOCHIS, and the *MUHAJIRS (Arabic word which means migrants.) 50% of the people speak Punjabi, however 10% speak *URDU, because it is the official language of the government and history. Islam is the key religion in Pakistan. 96.4% of people are *MUSLIMS.
