Questions raised over how Goldsmith kept his spending within legal limit set by Electoral Commission. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and Channel 4 News scrutinised the Goldsmith campaign’s election expenses return.
BIJ found there were some puzzling items. For example, invoices show that Goldsmith spent £2,800 for 600 signs. When it came to declaring how much the campaign spent on these signs during the key campaigning period, the amount was reduced by 90 per cent – to £262. -

Caught lying about support for Babar Ahmed
Criticised Sadiq for campaigning against Babar Ahmed's extradition and pretended he barely knew who Babar Ahmed was. Politics.co.uk uncovered that he had actually campaigned for the same thing in 2012. Babar Ahmed was later convicted for giving material support to the Taliban, hence Goldsmith's attempt to disassociate himself from him.
