George Washington becomes president
George Washington became the first president of the United States of America. Although reluctant he was finally conviced to take the Oval Office by his fellow Founding Fathers. -
Thomas Jefferson becomes president
He was the third president of the United States, known most for his contribution to the Declaration of Independence. His election was also known as the Revoltion of 1800. He became the first Democratic-Republican president. -
Louisiana Purchase
The United States of America purchased the territory of Louisiana, that was owned by France, to further expand the nation. Thomas Jefferson made the deal with Napoleon Bonparte. It was about 828,000 square miles and was bought for 15 million dollars -
Hamilton VS. Burr
A duel between Alexander Hamilton versus Aaron Burr in which Burr came out victorious and Hamilton lost his life. The dueling weapons were pistols, it took place in New Jersey. Alexander was later put on the Ten dollar bill. -
Gold Rush
Gold was found in California and the word got out around the world. Soon people from everywhere rushed to California to try their hand at making it rich. This boomed the popualtion and brought many immagrants to the Golden State. -
Irish Immigration
Around the late 1840's and early 1850's 1.3 million Irish people moved to America. Their potato famine was the main cause that pushed them to come to America. -
Pony Express founded
The Pony Express was a mail system that was known for its speed of delivery across the country. It used a relay system of messengers on horseback, it could deliver mail from coast to coast in 10 days. It was only around for two years as the telegraph was much faster. -
13th Amendment abolishs slavery
The 13th Amendment to the Constitution made all slavery in America illegal. Happened after the Civil War and was the start to freedom for the African Americans. -
Invention of the Telephone
Alexander Graham Bell created the first working telephone. It went on to become the most used technology. Although it took awhile for it to become a household item.
