  • Signing of the Deceleration of Independence

    Signing of the Deceleration of Independence
    The Deceleration of Independence was signed at the Pennsylvania State House. The United States was trying to gain their independence from England with the Revolutionary War. Signing it was going to establish all of the political connections with Great Britain. This allowed the United States to be their own country.

    The Industrial Revolution
    The industrial revolution was a social, technological and economic change that transformed people's standard of living. The manufacture of goods changed from handcraft items to machine-aided productions. Due to the textile and iron industries, we were able to refine the process of communication and transportation. This revolution was so significant because production was made efficiently and of quality.

    In the civil war ,the northern and southern states had been in conflict over issues including state's rights and slavery. Both regions had economic differences,the north was well established on an agricultural level while the south depended on slaves to grow crops. The north opposed to the extension of slavery in the new western territories, which caused fear in the south because it was the foundation of their economy. This event was the most bloodiest and costliest which made it so momentous.

    The Klu Klux Klan was an organization of white supremacists. They would terrorize anyone that was not white because other races were seen as animals. They would also hold meetings outside of homes of African Americans to scare them and kill them. They would usually light a huge cross on fire.

    The Fourteenth Amendment addresses the citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws of all people. This Amendment has been consequential to this day. Followed after the American civil war. Wasn’t supported by many.

    This was the time for jazz music, flappers, and bootleggers. This was also the time when women became more independent and rebellious and they started to break social norms. The 1920's is seen as a time of glamour because of all the parties and money that revolved around it. However, there was also times of struggle in the rural areas.

    This was a time where alcohol was banned in the United States. It was from the 1920's-1933. Alcohol was seen as bad since it caused violence and caused families to break apart. However, it was then realized that alcohol had nothing to do with the behavior of the people but themselves.

During this time the law of prohibition became highly debated. Many people supported Prohibition as being a victory for the health and public morals. Effected us in a positive way

    The women's suffrage was a movement about economic and political equality and they sought to fight for social reform. Women didn't want to conform to the idea of being the submissive wife and stay at home mother who attends their husband and children. They believed that they should be able to do things on a political and social scale. This movement was important because it allowed women to have voting rights as well as responsibilities of citizenship.

    The Great Depression was the worst period of time for the economy. Millions of people lost their jobs and were completely broke. It was thought that the cause of the Great Depression was because of the stock market crashing. This is significant because afterwards and eve during it caused the U.S. government to get more involved and have organizations to help people who are poor to prevent another Great Depression

    Pearl Harbor
    Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese fighter pilots. This was a surprise military attack which killed 2,403 (including soldiers and civilians). This attack was made even after peace talks with Japan. This is significant because it led to the U.S. to get involved in WW2 which changed the course of the war.

    After Pearl Harbor the government/civilians had suspicions about Japanese-Americans. The U.S. thought that they might be working with Japan and being spies for Japan. The U.S. made internment camps to hold the Japanese-Americans in order to monitor them. This is significant because people saw how the government violated peoples rights.

    During the end of WW2, the U.S. detonated two nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th and 9th, 1945. Both bombs killed about 226,000 civilians. The U.S. wanted Japan to surrender. The Japanese government surrendered which ended WW2.

    The Cold War was a period of tension between the U.S and Soviet Union due to anti-communist speculation and international conflicts that triggered the two superpowers. One of the U.S strategies was to contain communism, which lead us to the Korean war. In this war the U.S and Soviet union developed atomic bombs, they were trying to create the deadliest weapon, hence the "arms race". This conflict was important because we were able to create bombs that impacted many of American's domestic life.

    Civil Rights for African Americans
    The civil rights movement was the fight for social justice including constitutional and legal rights for African Americans.Since the civil war didn't officially end slavery, many African Americans still had to face discrimination and prejudices.'Jim Crow' laws were placed to separate blacks from using the same facilities, going to the same school as whites, etc. This movement was so influential because many individuals put their life on the line to tackle the cruel injustices.

    The Assassination of John F Kennedy
    John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, was in a presidential motorcade in Dallas, Texas. He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. Lee Harvey Oswald was also a former U.S. Marine and reasoning behind the assassination still remains unknown. This was significant in U.S. history because it led to speculation and suspicion in the government.

    9/11
    This was a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Two planes crashed into both buildings and many people were killed. September 11 remains a national holiday to remember those who were lost and families that were torn apart. There is now a new World Trade Center and a memorial for the old buildings.

    Barack Obama was the very first African American President of the United States. This caused many people to be happy to see the African American community to get recognition. It also proved that not only white men are capable of running the country. Obama was president for two terms.

    The rights of LGBTQ people have progressed and changed over time. They face hate and discrimination. This change did not take place until the early 20th century. Many people have equal rights as being themselves.

    5G is an heavily anticipated step in technology. 5G A.I. is going to change the future for its users. It would be able to allow cars drive themselves and have advancements in medical purposes also. This is significant because it can determine Americas future with a huge technological advancements.

    Some states in the United States such as Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio, Missouri, etc... have banned women to have abortions. Some states will even have these women have the death penalty if they have an abortion. Some are also banning the use of birth control because it is seen as a form of abortion.
