    The League of Nations was the only of Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points to be accepted after the Paris Peace Conference. The group worked to promoted worldwide peace and justice. Most countries joined the League of Nations at one point or another.
    Significance:
    The League of Nations allowed countries to unite together and cooperate in times of peace and war. It eventually formed into the United Nations, a similar group that still exists and is very influential to today’s international relations.

    Lenin was the first communist dictator in Russia. When Lenin died, Joseph Stalin was left in power of Russia. Stalin ruled the country much stricter than Lenin did enforcing violent and radical communist ideals.
    Significance:
    The death of Vladimir Lenin began a transition in power and lifestyle for the Russian people. As Stalin rose to power, he became a totalitarian ruler and showed great force as he put many plans into effect in Russia, causing harsh changes in government and lifestyle.

    In an effort to prevent World War the Kellogg-Briand pact was made. 15 nations signed it including Germany, France and the US. Countries promised not to militarize against other nations unless in an act of self-defense.
    Significance:
    The Kellogg-Briand pact didn’t prevent World War II. Despite this, the pact still kept nations from starting conflicts prior to World War II. When Germany began invading areas such as Rhineland and Poland the country overlooked the pact, causing great dispute.

    As a result of plummeting stock investments, the Great Depression crashed many countries’ economies. US citizens began selling much stock, afraid to lose money, all at once. Germany was recovering from war debt, so they suffered greatly.
    Significance:
    The Great Depression made the US economy plummet in a day. Then, the economies of other countries weakened as they relied on the US. Germany suffered the most. Germany’s mark had been losing value, and the Depression caused this to quicken.

    Around this time, the Nazi party gained over half of the government chairs in Germany, and although the country was very hesitant about it, Hitler was made Chancellor of Germany. This allowed Hitler to gain much more power within Germany.
    Significance:
    Hitler becoming chancellor was the turning point of Germany becoming controlled by the Nazi party. Hitler was able to instigate the secret police called the Gestapo soon after, and set up Germany so the Nazi government had complete control.

    Hitler began to gain control of Germany becoming the dictator of a Nazi-controlled country. On this day, Hitler assembled the German army for war. This was Germany’s preparation for World War II.
    Significance:
    Germany stored hatred for nearby nations because the Treaty of Versailles was forced on them. Hitler gathered the hatred assembling the Nazi party, quickly taking complete control of Germany. After remilitarizing in Rhineland, Germany showed readiness to fight in World War II.
