     The Enlightenment
    The Enlightenment was a time in history where everything was challenged and new ideas and laws came about. It happened from about the 17th to 18th Century and many technological advances happened in that era. Such as new laws and theories and also things that we take for granted today such as transport and Public Buildings. The enlightenment spread across a lot of the world such as north and South America and Europe.

    I believe the enlightenment made the society question the church and king because they realised what they were doing and the different beliefs the enlightenment was bringing around so that made the people question the higher ranks such as the church. The effect of the enlightenment was very big because it brought huge technological and social advances.

    Captain Cook Discovers The East Coast
    On the year 1770 Captain Cook discovered the east coast of Australia and he named it Terra Australia Incognito. More than 50 ships landed on Australian soil after that and slowly they started to settle there. They also brought convicts to help settle. this was very important in Australian History because this was the first settlement of Australia this led to many more colonies and eventually the Australian Federation was established.

    On The 25th January the free settlers arrived along with the convicts to claim the Land of Australia. The transportation would have been by the same means but somewhat easier for the free settlers because they would have much more food and better areas.
    When they arrived they all wanted to start a new colony but many lives were lost on the way to here. The transportation was not quick at all which also enraged quite a few settlers, but many of them still arrived on the boat transportation

    The First Fleet is the name that was given to 11 ships that left Britain in search of Australia. The people on board the all the boats was a total of 1044 people.A lot of settlers died along the way so the exact number was never found out. The first fleet was sent to NSW and they arrived in Botany Bay ,now known as Sydney Harbor on the 18th of January, 1788. This turned out to be the starting point of the country we live in.

    There were a total of 11 ships in the First fleet.
    The Naval Escort ships were called the HMS Sirius and the HMS Supply.
    The Convict ships were the Alexander, The Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough.
    The Supply and Food Transport ships were called The Golden Grove, Fishburn and the Borrowdale.

    On The 25th January, 1788.Convicts arrived in this country after many months of transportation from England. The journey here was very hard for most of them and many lives were lost. They were transported from England because the jails very over-capacitated. The convicts moved from England and made a 7 month journey to Australia to help start the new colony.

    Although the indigenous Australians were not brought by ships to Australia they were still heavily transported by the free settlers who kept them as slaves. This also caused many outbreaks and problems between the settlers and indigenous people and this also eventually led to the stolen generation. The effect of slaving and transpiration of Indigenous people was very great because this split up families and ruined lives. I believe this was a big turning point in Australia’s History.

    Their was no real cause for the slave and transportation of indigenous peoples only other than English people wanted to show wealth and prosperity or wanted indigenous people to help them with whatever work they needed. The indigenous people did not agree with that and many fights started over many colonies between the settlers and indigenous Austrlians for land and who rightfully owned it.

    To ease its own population increase, the government of Britain introduced a plan to encourage people to immigrate to Australian Colonies. Many people took up this challenge. They went to Australia because they believed that they would make money as property owners. This scheme was virtually impossible in Britain at the time. The British believed in terra nullius which meant no-man’s land. This meant that they believed to be the owners of the Australian colonies.

    Eventually Aboriginal people started to see what was happening and started to rebel. This caused many lost lives and bloodshed in the years that followed. Their have been many journals that have been recovered that write about the fights going on between settlers and indigenous people.Overall Britain settlement has its advantages but impacted on some people’s lives very heavily.

    Shortly after the establishment of swan river colony in Western Australia In 1829, settlers began exploring the surrounding region. Pinjarra was small and isolated, about 80 kilometres south of the swan river. In Response to the new European Settlement of their lands, the Bindjareb people speared cattle, stole flour and occasionally attacked settlers. This escalated to a series of tit-tat murders. With the settlers prepared to meet violence for violence.

    On the 25th October 1834, Stirling set off with a mounted patrol of 25 soldiers to Pinjarra. Several days later they came across a camp of about seventy Aboriginal People, men armed with spears, women and children. After several hours of fighting two European soldiers were injured and between fourteen and thirty Bindjareb people were injured or killed. Some of the men said they were women so their lives would be spared.

    On the 1st of January 1901, The states of South Austrlia,New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Australia and Queensland became the states of a new Austrlian Federation. The states came together to form Australia,but decided to come together as a whole. The states were fundamental to the Commonwealth becuae they states all had different leaders which came together to make the commonwealth. This decision was a decision that benifits us even today.

    On the 28th June, 1914. Archduke franz ferdinand( Heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne) and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of hohneberg, were visiting Sarejevo to inspect the manouveres. As the motorcade passed through the streets, Gravino princip a member of the Serbian group, The Black Hand, shot and killed the duke and his wife.

    On The 4th of August, 1914. Britain declared war on Germany. They did this because Germany decided to invade Belgium, because Belgium was allies with Britain. They wanted Germany to withdrawal from Belgium. The sent a foreign secretary to Germany, asking Germany to withdrawal. Germany did not follow that command and that is why Britain declared war on Germany.

    The Austrlins foguht very hard so they could claim Turkish land and continue the battle. Although the Australians fought bravely they were outfought and eventually forced to retreat with only a terrible memory to remember.

    The Gallipoli campaign was a campaign set by the Australia British army to invade a part of turkey to keep them out of the war. It occurred in WW1. Although the Australians intended it to be a surprise attack the Turkish were still informed about it and set up bunkers on high ground near the peninsula, once the shooting started, the massacre began. Many Australian lives were lost. As the days passed the ANZACS passed through a route now called the Anzac walk.
