  • The telegraph

    It is a device that transmits coded messages at long distance by means of electric impulses that circulate through a conductor cabke. Earlier, different systems were used to communicate at long distances, from signals to optics. However, it was not until the advent of electromagnetic discoveries, made in the first third of the nineteenth century, that a safe and economical method for communication was available.
  • The elevator

    In 1851, Waterman invented the first forklift prototype. It was a simple platform attached to a cable, to raise and lower goods and people. The forklift inspired Vermont, Elisha G. Otis to invent an elevator with a serrated system.
  • The can oponer

    The first can opener was invented in 1855 and bred in 1858 by Ezra J. Warner. It was an enormous and unmanageable one formed by a kind of sickle that had to be forcefully inserted into the can to slide it later.

    Toothpaste was originally used in powders and pills, but in 1896 it came out succesfully in 1896. The true appearance was when Colgate sold the first paste in euros to the United States.
