The Austrian Anschluss
Hitler called for all German speaking people, including Austria, Czech. Hitler believed that Germany's only chance to expand was to use force. Hitler threatened to invade German speaking Austria unless they gave into his demands to put Austrian Nazis in high ranking gov. positions. The chancellor of Austria agreed to Hitlers demands to avoid war. The chancellor then decided to put the matter of unification to a democratic vote, this drove Hitler to send German troops and announce anschluss. -

The Battle Of Britain
In June 1940, the German Air Force began to attack British ships in the English Channel.In mid Aug. the Luftwaffe launched an air battle to destroy the Royal Air Force.This battle lasted until the fall of 1940 and became know as the Battle of Britain.On Aug.23, German bombers had accidentally dropped bombs Britain’s capital, London.The British were outraged because of the mass amount of injured civilians and decided to bomb Berlin.This would be the first time in the war Germany would get bombed. -
The Fall Of France
The British troops traveled to France and both countries waited for the Germans to attack.The French decided to wait behind the concrete bunkers they created for the Germans to approach.The decision they made to wait for the Germans was a big mistake because the Germans were able to concentrate on Poland and Hitler decided to send his troops around the wall.The forces expected the Germans to attack and began to rush north.When the forces finally met with the Germans they were easily beaten. -
The Evacuation Of Dunkirk
After Germany trapped all other forces in Belgium, they began to drive them towards the English Channel.The British and French had to evacuate the rest of their surviving troops by sea,the Germans captured all troops except the ones at Dunkirk.When Germans tried to invade Dunkirk Hitler had demanded the them to stop. This gave the British time to re strengthen and evacuate.
