President Paul von Hindenburg announced Hitler as the fÜhrer and chancellor of Germany. He rose to power because of his speeches that promised to fix the economic conditions at that time. Germany Invades Poland (WWII Begins)
Hitler signed a non-aggression act with Poland. On this date, German troops bombed Polish airfields and German warships and U-boats attacked Polish naval forces in the Baltic Sea. Germany suprised the world when it signed a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union. Attack on Pearl Harbor
On this date, Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. They destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels and more than 300 airplanes. Bataan Death March
The Japanese forced 76,000 captured Allied soldiers(Filipinos and Americans)to march about 80 miles across the Bataan Peninsula.
These were prisoners of war and they were took on the march to obey the commands. Only a few survived to reach the Japanese prison camp near Cabanatuan. Battle of Coral Sea
Japanese authorities were seeking the control of the Coral Sea. They wanted to invade Port Moresby in southeast New Guinea, but their plans were intercepted by Allied forces. Battle of Midway
This is the most decisive U.S. victory against Japan during World War II. It was a four-day air and sea battle in the Pacific. D-Day
On the first day of the battle of Normandy also known as D-Day about 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. 1st Liberation of Concentration Camp
Soldiers from the Soviet were the first to liberate prisoners from a concentration camp. The first camp was Majdanek in Poland. French General Leclerc enters the free French capital on this day triumphantly. Earlier, French armored division started to advance in the city.The French Forces of the Interior started to free all French civilian prisoners in Paris. Battle of Iwo Jima

Death of Hitler
Dictator of Germany consumes a cyanide capsule, then shoots himself with a pistol, on this day. Before his death he decided to remain in Berlin for the last great siege of the war. He barely left and he spent his time micromanaging what was left of German defenses. His body is cremated in the chancellery garden by the bunker. Germany Surrenders
General Jodl, signed the unconditional surrender of all German forces. He hoped to limit the terms of the surrender to only forces fighting with Western Allies, but Eisenhower demanded the surrender of all German forces, in the East and in the West. The Russian General and the French General signed as witnesses so, Germany surrendered.

Atomic Bomb #1
Bombing Hiroshima declared the U.S as the first country to use nuclear weaponery. The U.S had scientists such as Einstien work on nuclear weapons.
