The marco polo incident was a result of the feud between the Japanese and Chinese troops, which caused the japenese invasion against china, that was named Sino-Japenese war. the reason for its occurrence was because of china's resistance against expanding the japenese's influence in its territory. the effects were that the chinese society was drastically changed. the invasion caused a lot of the chinese to turn into nationalists. -

german troops took over Poland in its 1,750 mile border with a territory that was controlled by Germany. german luftwaffe sent bombed the polish airfields, as well as german warships and U-boats ambushed the polish naval forces in the baltic sea. the reason for this was that in hiltler's opinion conquering poland would result in accommodating living space to the german people. the effects that took place were central and west poland directed themselves towards the nazis to the soviets -

germany took over the soviet union using a codename that was "operation barbarossa". it was considered the largest military operation known at that time. it happened because hitler conquered the USSR because of his obvious hatred that aimed at the communism in the USSR. the effects were that stalin gained immense popularity after the campaign. the patterns of the losses and defeats was interrupted. -

it happened after japan initiated a surprise attack on the US naval base in Pearl Harbor. it happened because of the american restriction on japan after gaining power and taking over the south pacific islands. the effects were that it led to the americans having to seek revenge for the pearl harbor for a long time. -
BATAAN DEATH MARCH
It was when the Japanese began to take over the philipines. filipinos and americans were forced to march miles starting at the bataan peninsula and need in San fernando. it happened because after the surprise attack in pearl harbor, the US decided to move their forces from manila to bataan peninsula. the effects were that it killed 10,000 men in the march and the survivors spent the next 40 months in prison. -
MANHATTAN PROJECT
it happened when roosevelt agreed on signing an order to create a secret project to develop a nuclear weapon. it happened because the united states wanted to use the nuclear bombs for protection and defense. the effects were the atomic bombs caused radiation called chromosomal mutations in cells of surviving organisms. -
BATTLE OF STALINGRAD
it was the turning point of ww2 in europe and it caused the germans to become weak in russia after they lost . the reason why is that russia believed that it was the greatest battle in their Great Patriotic War because it stopped germany's plan of having access into the soviet union. the effects were that in battle occurred during the winter so the german commander insisted on securing all the oil fields in caucasus. -
WARSAW GHETTO UPRISING
SS forces were sent with their collaborators that were armed with tanks and heavy weapons that would terminate the warsaw ghetto issued by himmler. it happened because it took place to keep the nazis from dispatching more jews to be murdered in treblinka death camp. the effects were that resistance fighters escaped from the ghetto and joined partisan groups. -
OPERATION GOMORRAH
It is when britan invaded hamburg in germany because they wanted to strike back for the civilians that were killed by the germans. hitler was effected with the operation because he was in denial and refused to believe that the war was over. -
ALLIED INVASION OF ITALY
it started with of the skipping across the strait of messina that was done by the british forces. after a couple of days forces that belonged to briton and america landed hundreds of miles to the north of salerno. the reason it happened was because italy was still considered an ally that belonged to germany. the fall of sicily changed that when the italian campaign became similar to the other western allied campaigns. the effects were that the axis considered it a success. -
D-DAY
it was the result of five years of war against germany located in the beaches of normandy where they fought their way through the german defenses and got to berlin. it happened because the US encouraged the allies to start the attack after they joined the war and they wanted to decrease the german's attacks. the effect was that it led to germany having to fight two wars that they weren't ready to fight. -
BATTLE OF THE BULGE
it was aIt was Germany's last attempt to drive the Allies off of Europe. a lot of the troops that were involved on the Allied side were American troops. it happened because germany initiated a counterattack that was a tactic that would cut through the allied forces. its effects were that germany lacked a lot of weapons , specially tanks, after the attack. -

It was when the US air forces and britan joined forces and bombed dresden. it occurred because the city was considered a naive city that had no military importance and was infested with innocent civilians, for their plan was to give aid to the soviet union by interrupting the rear areas of the german east front. the effects were that it resulted in the demoralization of germany. -
BATTLE OF IWO JIMA
It was the first warning from the US to japan that was located in Iwo Jima when three marines from the US landed there. it happened because the US wanted a base close to the japenease coast. the effects were that after the us invasion, japan had to lock down all of their bases in order to protect the country. -
BATTLE OF OKINAWA
It happened when the allied forces turned against the okinawan island and included japan into the deadliest battle of the pacific war. it happened because of the japans forces being doubtful and changing their tactics of the resistance of the water edge. the impacts were that it was the reason for the big number of casualties that belonged to japan and the united states. -
VE DAY
it was the celebration of the UK and the US for the victory of europe. it happened when the german troops finally surrendered when they lost to their soviet enemy. the impacts were the surrender of germany was signed at rheims. -
POTSDAM DECLARATION
it was an affirmation that emerged by by harry s truman, winston churchill, and chiang kai-shek. it listed the terms of surrender, which is also known as the potsdam declaration. it happened because stalin decided to declare war on japan only six months after the the defeat of germany. the effects were that every aspect of the german industry that could be used for military purposes were supposed to be disassembled. -
DROPPING OF THE ATOMIC BOMBS
It started when the first atomic bomb was launched in hiroshima by an american. 90 percent of the population were killed. it occurred because the US believed that dropping a bomb would be the only solution to end the war. the effects were that it caused people to die from radiation and injured 35,000. -
VJ DAY
it was considered as the victory over japan day and it took place at the end of WW2 after six years of war when japan surrendered. it happened because japan finally agreed on signing the potsdam declaration because the US dropped two nuclear bombs on them. the effects were that it ended WW2 as well as the war in the pacific. -
