The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continious military campaign of WWII. pitted U-boats and other warships of the German Navy against Allied convoys. -
Battle Britain
It showed that England was going to keep on fighting instead of giving in to Germany. It was the first loss that the Germany suffered after a string of magnificent victories that made them seem invincible. England's victory meant that Germany could not launch Sealion, the invasion of England. -

the U.S needed an air base to attack the Marianas Islands so they chose Tarawa as the air base. It was a stepping stone to our taking the Marianas. However, the tropical winds were almost impossible to sustain. -
