    Manchuria was invaded by Japan because of its growing need for raw materials. By the end of the invasion Japan was in control of large sections of China.

    After Hitler became chancellor, he was able to remove all other political parties in Germany. His goals as chancellor were to make Germany one unified one-party state.

    Ethiopia was one of two only independent countries in Africa. It was invaded by Italy which was under the control of Benito Mussolini.

    Kristallnacht or the Night of Broken Glass was a german retaliation against jews during the night. They vandalized shops and burned Jewish buildings.

    The non-aggression pact was signed between the Soviet Union and Germany right before the start of WWII. It stated that they would not take any military action against each other for the next ten years.

    Germany shelled and bombed Warsaw until it was finally surrendered to the Germans. Due to the fact that Britain and France were both standing by to protect Poland, they declared war on Germany two days after Warsaw was captured.

    The Japanese forcibly marched their prisoners of war 66 miles in the Philippines during the beginning of World War 1. Part of the way there they were transferred in unsanitary box cars.

    This was a complete naval battle in the Pacific ocean. The US was able to destroy Japan's aircraft fleet and win the battle.

    The battle of Stalingrad was a successful defense of the city of Stalingrad by the Soviet Union. Most Russians consider it to be one of the greatest battles of their Great Patriotic War.

    The Normandy invasion or D-Day was the allied invasion of western Europe. It was the landing of the US, British, and Canadien forces on the beaches of Normandy simultaneously.

    This battle took place in Belgium and was one of the last German offensives in the war. The Germans lost this war and it eventually led to victory for the whole war.

    This was a conference between Winston Churchill, Roosevelt, and Joseph Stalin. They met to discuss the final take over and occupation of Germany.

    V-E Day or Victory in Europe day marked the end of the war in Europe. This meant that the only war that still existed was in the Pacific.

    The first atomic bomb that was dropped in Japan wiped out 90% of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. Tens of thousands more people would die later due to radiation exposure.

    V-J Day or Victory in Japan day marked the final end of World War II. On this day Japan had finally surrendered its forces to the United States.
