  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    The Jappenese army seized manchuria because the country was rich in iron and coal.When the Jappenese first seized Manchuria, the set up a temporary puppet government. This Jappenese attack on Manchuria was the first diresct challenge to The League of Nation.
  • Alliance with Germany and Italy

    Hitler's growing strength made Mussolini realize that he should seek and alliance with Germany. Hitler and Mussolini reache an agreement that became known as the Rome-berlin Axis. Germany then made an agreement with Japan there forming the Axis Powers.
  • Kristallnacht

    When Grynszpan shot an employee of the german Embassy in Paris. The Nazi leaders found out, so they launched a violent attack on the jewish community. On this event, Nazi troops attacked jewish homes, businesses, synagogues all across Germany and murdered many Jews.
  • Invasion of Poland

    Invasion of Poland
    Was a surprise attack on Poland from the Germans. German war planes invaded Polish airspace, raining bombs, and terror on the Poles. Germand tanks and troop trucks used to go across the border carried mmore than 1.5 million soldiers. This German invasion on Poland unleashed WWII.
  • Soviet Union Invaded East Poland

    Stalin sent Soviet troops to occupy the eastern half of Poland due to the secret agreement he arranged with Hitler. He also had a second part of the agreement which allowed Stalin to annex the following region and led to the fall of Lithuania, Lativa, and Estonia.
  • France Surrenders

    After Paris fell to the Germans, Nazi troops then marched to another location. Two days later seeing the defeat of France approaching, the French Parliament asked Marshall Henri Petain to become the prime minister. The Germans took control over the northern part of France and the ner government headquarters was located in the city of Vichy.
  • Lend Lease Act

    The president could lend or lease arms and other supplies to anyother country vital to the United States.
  • Battle of Britain

    With the fall of France, Great Britain sttod alone against the Germans.Hitler wanted to invade Britain stood alone against the Germans. Hitler wanted to invade Great Britain by using Operation Sea Lion. Operation Sea Lion was start by knocking out the Royal Air Force (RAF) and then to land 250,000 soldiers on the shores of England. Hitler decided to call off his attacks due to what he thought of Britains resitance.
  • German Invasion of Soviet Union

    Hitler's plan to invade the Soviet Union was Operation Barbarossa. The Soviet Union was not prepareed for the attack, even though they had a large army (Red Army), it was not equipped or well trained. The invasion continued for weeks until the Germans pushed 500 miles inside the Soviet Union.
  • Atlantic Charter

    The United States wasn't entered into war, Roosevelt and Churchill met secretly on a battleship off of New Foundland. The two leadrs issued a joint declaration (Atlantic Charter). This declaration upheld free trade among nations and the right of people to choose their own government. This charter later served as the Allies peace plan at the end of WWII.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack happened early in the morning. Within two hours of the attack, the Jappenese had sunk/damaged 18 ships and killed nearly 2,400 Amreicans and more than 1,00 wounded.
  • Battle of Midway

    This battle was between the Jappenese and the Americans at Midway island, west of Hawaii.As Jappenese planes roared over Midway Island, American planesstarted to attack the enemy planes. The americans destroyed 322 of japans planes, all 4 aircraft carriers, and one support ship.
  • Allied Invasion of Italy

    Allied forces of 180,000soldiers landed on Sicily and captured it from Italian and german troops by the mont of August. Italy then surrendured on September 3, Germans then seized control of northern Italy.
  • D-Day

    Opertation Overlord, was the greatest land and sea attack in the history of war. On this day British, American, French, and Canadian troops fought through a 60 mile stretch of beach in Normandy. The Germand knew the attack was coming but they didnt know the location. There were heavy casualties, but the allied forces still had a strong hold of Normandy.
  • German Surrender

    General Eisenhower accepted the unconditonal surrener of the Third Reich from the German military. On May 8, the surrender was official and was signed in Berlin.
  • Bombing of Nagasaki

    The bomb that was landed in Nagasaki was the second bomb that was dropped after the first which was dropped in New Mexico. The bomb in Nagasaki killed about 37,500 people and the radiation killed many more.
  • Bombimg of Hiroshima

    This bomb was dropped because the Americans didnt liten to the Jappenese in surrenduring. More than 73,000 people died in this attack.
  • Japanese Surrender

    The Japanese surrendered to general Douglas MacArthur. It took place on the United States battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay. With the surrender of Japan, the war officially ended.
  • Nuremberg Laws

    The Allie countires wanted to make sure that nothing like the Halocaust would ever happen again. An international Military Tribunal representing 23 nations Nazi criminals on trial in Nuremberg Germany.The Nazie leaders were charged with the following, violating the laws of war, committing "crimes against humanity", and waging war of aggression.
