Blitzkrieg stands for "lighting War" and was a war tactic against France and most of Europe. It was called lighting war because the attacks when they used Blitzkrieg only lasted a couple days and was victorious. This tactic saved many German lives and limited the use of artillery. -

German attack on France and Capture of Paris
Germany's attack on France was a swift 6 week process and was a minor turning point in the war. The war tactic "Blitzkrieg" was used to cripple the allied air defenses and then sent in the planes to bomb cities. After that was done they sent in the infantry to finish the job. This attack on France crippled the allied air forces and their air defense. -
Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britain was a major turning point in the war. The Royal Air Force gave Germany a run for their money by standing their ground in the air by destroying at least 1,800 German planes. This battle gave Germany their first "lost" in the war and they had to retreat. -
Operation Barbarossa
The operation of Barbarossa was a major turning point in the war. This loss ended Germany momentum but boosted the allied powers confidence. A reason for their loss was the weather on the way too Russia. The weather killed most of Hitlers men which which cut away their infantry. -
Lend Lease
The lend lease act allowed the U.S to trade with France, United Kingdom and any other country that was facing conflict with the Axis power. The idea of the Lend Lease act was to promote the defense of the United States by lending out weapons and supplies to other countries to defeat the Axis power before they could reach the U.S. The result of this act is that our supplies to Russia saved the Soviet Union. -
Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor was the most devastating attack U.S soil in U.S. history. Japan attacked America because they wanted to expand their territory and to cripple our Pacific Fleet. One thing that triggered the attack is that we stopped trading Oil with them so they wanted vengeance on us. This attack destroyed 18 battleships, 188 aircraft's, and 2,403 men in total. -

The United States is forced to declare war on Japan because they bombed Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the most devastating attack on the U.S. because it crippled the Pacific Fleet and had a total of 3,000 casualties. One main reason why Japan attacked us is that we stopped trading Oil with them which triggered them to attack. When Germany declared war on the U.S., that is when WWII started. -

The Bataan death march was a march performed by American and Filipino prisoners forced by Japanese soldiers. They were forced to march 65 miles from Mariveles, on the southern end of the Bataan Peninsula, to San Fernando.A total of 10,000 men died due to extreme conditions of the March. -

The Battle of Midway was a naval battle in which the United States came out victorious over Japan. This victory was a major turning point for the U.S. in the Pacific battles. At the end of the battle Japan lost 4 carriers, a cruiser, suffered 2,500 deaths, and about 300 air crafts. On the other hand, the U.S. only lost the Yorktown Carrier and a destroyer. -

The Battle of Stalingrad was a devastating loss for the Nazis and Hitler. This battle occurred because Hitler could not defeat Britain so he focused his power against the Soviet Union. The weather was a big factor This loss pushed Germany back and the allies were gaining momentum to end the war. This battle had at least 150,000 German casualties and surrendered at least 91,000 men. -
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
This event consisted of the act of Jewish resistance that arose within the Warsaw Ghetto in German-occupied Poland during World War II, and which opposed Nazi Germany's final effort to move the prisoners to Treblinka. The uprising was eventually shut down by German soldiers killing 400,000 Jews. -

D-Day is the most famously known battle known to man. D-Day is when the U.S. and a combination of the allied powers stormed the beaches of Normandy, the west side of Europe. This attack name is called amphibious because they are coming from water to land. About 160,000 men overwhelmed the German forces which won the allied powers the battle. -

The Liberation of the Camps were the final step to end WWII. On July 23, 1944, they started to enter the camps and liberating the scared and hurt prisoners. The last camp to be freed was Ravensbrueck. The total amount of people who died in WWII was about 11 million. -

The Battle of the Bulge was located in Belgium, Germany. This battle was the last offensive push on the western front by the Nazis. This battle. The dropping of the 2 atomic bombs were a devastating blow to Japan and its people. The first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima which killed about 146,000 innocent people. You would think Japan would surrender but they did not. The U.S. were ruthless and dropped another bomb which was bigger and stronger than the 1st one. The bomb over Nagasaki killed about 80,000 people.
