  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht
    A massive, coordinated attack on Jews throughout the German Reich on the night of November 9, 1938, into the next day, has come to be known as Kristallnacht or The Night of Broken Glass. This was because Herschel Grynszpan, a 17 year old Jew killed a member of the German Embassy staff as revenge for the poor treatment of his family by Nazis in Germany.

    A pact signed by Great Britian, France, Italy, and Germany that annexed parts of Czechlsylvakia. It is important because it is viewed as an unpresidented and unwise notion to please a hostile nation (Germany).
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The surprise attack on Hawaii by Japan, singaling the beginning of the war with Japan.
  • Bataan Deatth March

    The forcible tansfer of Filipino and American prisoners of war by the Japanese Imperial Army. This is important because more than 2,500-10,000 Filipino's and 100-650 American died before they could reach Camp O'Donnell. Later to be judged as a Japanese War crime because of all the torture and murder of the prisoners and civilians.
  • Battle of Midway

    A World War II naval battle, fought mostly with planes, that allowed the United States to destroy Japan’s first-line carrier strength and most of its best trained naval pilots. It is important because it ended the threat of further Japanese invasion in the Pacific.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    A major German defensive campaign that took place mainly in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg on the Wedtern Front. IT is important because it was a surprise on the Allied forces and cost the U.S many lives and severely depleted Germany's war supplies.

    The three Allied powers met one last time to discuss a plan to defeat Germany.
  • V E Day

    Also known as Victory in Europe Day, this is when the United States accepted Germany's unconditional surrender and ended the war in Europe.

    The United States used the Atomic Bomb against Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.
