Hitler ordered bomb raids on Great Britain. The German air force attacked Britain night after night. -

Stalin wanted this city held at all costs during the Battle of Stalingrad. After 6 months, the Soviet Union defeated Germany. -

The Japanese attacked a US naval fleet in Hawaii. It was "a day that will live in infamy." -
Normandy Invasion
The Invasion of Normandy was part of D-Day. The Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy, France to get France back from Germany. -
V-E Day
In 1945, the US & USSR met in the German capital of Berlin. Victory in Europe Day was then announced. -
Atomic Bombing in Japan
Japan would fight to the last man & not surrender. So, the US dropped 2 Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima & Nagasaki. -
V-J Day
Japan surrenders in 1945 & they are put under the control of General McArthur. Victory in Japan Day is announced in September.
