WWII Timeline

  • German Blitzkrieg

    Germany invaded Poland, causing a war in Europe. Blitzkrieg was a town in Poland that was left devastated after this invasion.
  • Fall Of France

    Germany invades France, and captures Paris, because France had offered aid to Poland in case of German attack. France was then lost to Germany.
  • Battle of Britain

    Bombing on Britain began from German Troops. This bombing lasted about 11 months with no success. No one won, and Britain was forced to rebuild many towns and cities.
  • Lend Lease Act

    This act was passed by Roosevelt, and under this act, the US was allowed to loan/give Britain weapons and things to defend themselves, without needing these weapons back. Because of this act, no one won in the battle of Britain.
  • Germany Invades Soviet Union

    Because of how many Jewish people were in the Soviet Union at the time, Hitler disregarded their non-aggression acts, and proceeded to take over. However, they failed, unsuccessful in the face of the Soviet troops.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan wanted to rule over every nation, however they couldn't do this with people standing in the way. The only country that stood between them and power was the US, so, because of this they bombed Pearl Harbor to try and wipe out our Navy. America fought back, but lost many. They declared war on Japan, therefore joining the World War. Upon joining, they brought in many other countries that were there to back America.
  • America Joining The World War

    America declared War on Japan the day after Pearl Harbor. As stated before, by declaring war against Japan, they joined the World War against Germany, and brought new forces/allies into the battle with them.
  • Battle of Midway

    Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US devastated the Japanese troops in The Battle of Midway. America was able to pick up on radio signals from Japan, and get a heads up on Japan's plans. A third of the US air-force was destroyed, but there were more workers that were killed in the battle than anything else.
  • Bataan Death March

    This was the transfer of 60,000-80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war from different points, transferred by train, then most killed.
  • Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

    An act of Jewish resistance that arose within the Warsaw Ghetto. This uprising apposed Germany's final effort to transport the remaining ghetto population. A total of 13,000 Jewish people died within this rebellion from either suffocation or being burnt alive. German casualties were less than 300. This was the largest Jewish rebellion during WW2.
  • D-Day

    American and British troops landed on the beach in France's Normandy Region. Although successful, this infiltration required heavy planning, and fantastic fighters.
  • Battle of The Bulge

    Hitler attempted to split allied forces in Europe by a surprise attack. America was caught off guard, but they fought back anyways. This battle severely depleted Germany's armies/troops, and they weren't able to rebuild. Both teams faced terrible loses.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima was a island that US marine divisions landed on. Iwo was defnedned by Japanese army and Navy. US won.
  • Liberation of Concentration Camps

    Over 60,000 prisoners in Concentration Camps were released, most of them in critical condition. More than 10,000 die due to malnutrition within the first few weeks of being released. British troops liberate other troops in Germany short after.
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    America sent atomic bombs to Japan. These bombs were approved by Britain, and killed over 129,000 people, who were mostly civilians. Because of this bombing, America was seen as someone to be feared.
