Did not end on good conditions with many of the countries so conflict started and contributed to the start of World War II. -
Treaty of Versailles
This treaty formally brought world war II to its end and it placed severe penalties on Germany. Made them take the blame for starting the war in the first place. This treaty caused hard feelings on both sides. -
League of Nations Founded
Was organized to pursue and international ideal by preventing future conflicts among its member states. -
Spanish Civil War
Was a military revolt against the republican government in Spain. Also the Nationalists were supported by German troops. -
Rape of Naking
It was the occupation of a chinese city by the japanese army that resulted in the murder and rape of thousands of chinese people. During the Sino-Japanese war the city was taken over and the Japanese soldiers showed no mercy and killed civilians for fun. Also women were a huge target and thousands were raped and killed. Nazi Germany told them to stop but they did not. -
Munich Conference
The Munich Agreement was a settlement permitting Nazi Germany's annexation of portions of Czechoslovakia along the country's borders mainly inhabited by German speakers, for which a new territorial designation was coined. -
German Invasion of Poland
Germany launched its invasion of Poland with their new military technique and it was taken over in a month. -
London Blitz
Massive bombing campaign done on London ordered by Hitler. Killed thousands of people and leveled London more than 1 million people were homeless. Huge symbolic victory for the British. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
The Japanese wanted to attack Pearl Harbor because it would temporarily disable the US fleet while japanese forces simultaneously launched invasions into southeast asia and pacific islands. -

Manila became occupied by Japan and the US-Philippine forces. Important because the US lost important territory -
Battle of Midway
This event was significant because when the US was able to read their code that indicated that they would try to bomb Midway but the US was ready and waiting for them and sunk 4 ships which set the Japanese a bunch. It was the first clear cut japanese defeat since the beginning of the war and kept Japanese defensive instead of spreading throughout the Pacific. -
Normandy Invasion
The US wanted to catch the German forces that were in France by surprise and decided that Normandy would be the fastest route from Britain to France so it would be the most ideal way to perform an ambush. Because of the foothold that the Allies gained by taking Normandy they were able to begin the campaign that reclaimed Europe and forced the Germans surrender. -
V-E Day
The unconditional surrender of Germany in World War II. -
Bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima
Changed the world and instilled fear in people because of the realization of this powerful weapon of mass destruction. Adjusted world powers and led to the cold war and nuclear arms race. -
V-J Day
On August 14, 1945 after the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, US president Harry Truman declared victory over Japan or V-J Day and the Japanese surrendered.
