Great Britian and France Declare War
With poland getting invades by nazi germany britain and france knew that the time was up on peace. Germany was going to try to take over europe all along but on this day they were officailly at war, which began the actually fighting of world war two. -
Italy enters the war
Italy entered the war and invaded south France. This battle lasted 15 days, the first day mainly consisted of airstrikes. -
Stalingrad
This was an unsuccessful attempt to invade Stalingrad. This is viewed as the greatest battle of the entire war. The total casualties of this battle adds up to around 2 million. -
Pearl Harbor Gets Attacked
This was a suprise military attack on the United States by Japan. Pearl Harbor is a naval base for the U.S. in Hawaii. This was a very devisating attack as 2,388 people died, which lead to the U.S. getting involved in the war. -
Italy Surrenders
On this day Italy surrendered to the allied powers. Yet once they did Hitler took into affect what he called operation axis. Where he invaded Italy to make sure that the allies didn't get ahold of a southern position in Europe. -

The battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle where the U.S. armed forced caputred the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese imperial army. American forces used operation detachment which involved taking over the whole island including 3 airfields controlled by Japan. -
Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was the final stage of WWII. The U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on the two cities killing at least one hundred and twenty-nine tousand people.
