    1) Japan attempted to invade China.
    2) There had been aggression between the countries for years. Japan saw an opportunity and took it.
    3) Both countries lost many troops.
  • The Fall of France

    1) The Fall of France was the German invasion of France.
    2) Germany invaded France because Hitler was eager to follow up his victory over Poland and France was a good option.
    3) The French collapse ripped up the balance of power in Europe.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    1) Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
    2) They were trying to keep America from joining the war by scaring them into staying neutral.
    3) The bombing lest 2,400 people dead, around 200 planes destroyed, and 8 battleships destroyed. It also brought the U.S.into the war.

    1) Allied powers landed on the beaches of Normandy, France.
    2) They were trying to liberate Europe from Nazi control.
    3) D-day started the beginning of the end for the Germans because it was making them fight on both sides of their country.

    First date was the liberation of Auschwitz. Last date was the liberation of Dachau.
    1) Many concentration camps were being liberated.
    2) The Allies were winning against Germany and were able to help the people at concentration camps.
    3) Many lives were saved because the people in the camps could get the help that they needed.

    1) The Battle of Iwo Jima was the only large battle in the war that the Allies suffered more casualties than the Japanese.
    2) The Allies needed to have a location for fighter planes and bombers to take off and land so they fought for the island of Iwo Jima.
    3) Many thousand soldiers died during this battle.

    3) Many innocent people were killed. This also helped bring the surrender of Japan and ended WWII.
