  • Invasion of Poland

    Germany invades Poland, one of the beginning causes for the war. Germans secure a portion of Polish territory.

  • Fall of France against the Nazi's

    German troops overran Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France. It occurred in six weeks. France signed an armistice, leaving Great Britain as the only country still fighting against Nazi Germany.

  • Rescue at Dunkirk

    Rescue of more than 338,000 British and French troops. It was a huge boost for British morale.

  • London Blitz

    The United Kingdom heavily bombing Germany. Went on for 8 months.

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Germans surrendered. First major defeat of Hitler. It's outcome was a turning point in favor of the Allies

  • Italian Campaign

    Ended fascist rule in Italy, due to execution of many high-ranked fascist officials in Italy.

  • D-Day (Battle of Normandy)

    Beginning of Allied invasion of France. British, Canadian, and American troops stormed five beaches at Normandy, France.

  • Operation Market Garden

    Allied troops attempted to pursue Nazi forces across France. They attempted to do so airborne. However they failed.

  • Battle of the Bulge

    This battle marked the last of the German offense on the Western Front. Huge contributor to Germany's soon to follow surrender.

  • Victory in Europe Day

    This marks the day the world war ended in Europe.
