  • US Neutrality Act

    This act lifted the embargo and put the economic nation under "cash-and-carry". The bans on loans remained.
  • Manhattan Project

    The Manhattan Project started with scientist including Albert Einstein.
  • Rationing During WWII

    Bacon, butter, and sugar were rationed.
  • Japanese Embargo

    The US froze Japanese assets. On August 1 the US established an embargo on oil and gasoline exports to Japan.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japanese attack Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
  • Internment Camps

    FDR signed executive order 9066, thus allowing exclusion and internment of Japanese Americans from the west coast of the US.
  • Battle of Midway

    Occurred in the Pacific theater, US victory. Ended on June 7th.
  • D-day

    Allied forces invaded northern France.
  • V-E Day

    Victory in Europe Day.
  • Hiroshima & Nagasaki

    The American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over the Japanese city Hiroshima. On August 9th Nagasaki was bombed also.
  • V-J Day

    Victory in Japan Day the Japanese surrender.
