WWII Timeline

  • Neutral Stance

The US decided to take a neutral stance and made it clear. They allowed for the selling of military products as long as the buyer was responsible for the payment and transport.
  • Selective Service Act

The United States Congress creates the Selective Service Act, the first “peacetime act” passed in the US. In order to serve, it had to be a man that was 5 ft tall, more than 105 pounds, and have good vision and more than half of their teeth.
  • Pearl Habor

Japanese war planes were launched and attacked the Pearl Harbor base in Hawaii killing thousands of people and sinking multiple US ships and aircrafts. This provoked the United States to become a real part of the second world war and on the same day Japan targeted and attacked other places around the world.
  • Japanese Internment

The War Relocation Authority (Japanese Internment) is established and it allowed for japanese-americans to be segregated and detained into barb-wire relocation centers. As a result, over 120,000 japanese-americans were “relocated” and over 17,000 signed up for the US draft to fight in Europe (causing the US army to prosper).
  • Marianas Turkey Shoot

Japanese aircrafts attacked the US fleet starting the Battle of the Philippine Sea, also known as the “Marianas Turkey Shoot.” The Japanese were shot down and they suffered devastating loss. This gave the United States more power and lead to further events.
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The US dropped two major atomic bombs. The first one was dropped on Nagasaki and was called “Little Boy” (estimated to have killed around 237,000 people). The second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and was called “Fat Man” (estimated to have killed around 80,000 people). These two atomic bombs were basically the main cause of the end of World War 2, leaving the Japanese army and people completely ruined.
