Treaty of Versailles is signed at France to end the Great War. This pact was signed by the Germany, Italy, Britain, Russia, and France. Versailles is city located ten miles outside of Paris, France. -
Hitler becomes leader of the Nazi Party
Hitler joined the National Socialism party the year it was founded, in 1921. -
FDR is elected President
Franklin Delano Roosevelt is elected as the United States President. He is later elected three more times as Preisident of the United States. This was thought of as a form of a dictatorship by some. -

Adolph Hitler becomes Germany's Fuhrer. -
Hitler Violates the Treaty of Versailles
Germany violates the Treaty of Versailes and starts to build up military strength. -
Italy takes Ethopia
After fighting for almost a year Italy finally takes over Ethopia. Mussolini attacked Ethopia for other reasons too like his belief that they were responsible for an attack in 1934 between the two countries. -
Non-Agression Pact is signed
Hitler and Stalin signed a Non-Agression pact with each other that prevented them from attacking each other and let them do their own thing. This pact would make room for Hitler to fight a western front and then an Eastern front. If this pact was not signed Germany might have been fighting a two front war. -
Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand Decare War on Germany
Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Germany because of their large military presence in Europe as well as their threat to security. The final straw to their security is Germany's decision to invade Poland. -
Italy Declares War on Britain and France
Mussolini, Italy's leader during World War II, wanted to take Europe back like how it was done during the Roman days. They did not like the idea of Germany getting all of the land so they had decided to also fight against the two nations. -
FDR signs Lend-Lease Act
Franklin Delano Roosevelt signs the Lend'Lease Act to Germany. This bill allowed for the U.S. to lend supplies to countries without compensation. This Act mainly helped the British in their fight with the Germans. -
Pearl Harbor Bombing
Japenese forces launch an attack on US Naval Base, Pearl Harbor. This attack was unprovoked and was the start to the United States joining the Second World War. -
D-Day
Allied powers crossed the English channeled to invade the beaches of Normandy, France. This was the beggining of the liberation from Nazi control during WWII. Normandy, was at the northeastern part of France, and D-Day is known as one of the bloodiest battles in History. -
Hitler Commits Suicide
Adolph Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker. He first swallowed a cyanide capsule and then shoot himself with a pistol. -
Japan Surrenders
Japan agrees to surrender to the Allied Powers. After two atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki (two major Japenese cities at them time) Japan surrenders. Japan did not intend to surrender after the first bomb, but after two bombs they decided they would not be able to take any more bombings.
