After the Allies invaded Africa and defeated the Afrika Corps, they went onwards to Rome. Within a month, the Allies had forced the Italians to surrender. -

Allied troops from Britain, USA, and Canada start storming the beaches of Normandy in order to gain land. On the first day, 10,000 soldiers had died. After a month, many more die. -
