WWII Timeline 1930-1945

  • Hitler Becomes Chancellor of Germany

    Hitler used his position to achieve a dictatorship, by eliminating hundreds of his rivals in what he called "The night of the long knives" and was proclaimed fuhrer of the German Reich, head of state and commander of the armed forces giving him complete dictatorial power over the country.
  • Re-Occupation of The Rhineland

    In 1935 Hitler unilaterally canceled the military clauses of the treaty and in march 1936 denounced the Locarno pact and began militarizing of the Rhineland.
  • Unification With Austria

    On March 12 1938 German troops marched into Austria to annex the German-speaking nation for the Third Reich. Austria existed as a federal state of Germany until the end of WWII.
  • Munich Agreement

    A settlement reached by Germany, Great Britain, France and Italy that permitted annexation of the Sudetenland in Western Czechoslovakia.
  • Occupation of Czechoslovakia

    Nazi Germany stormed into Czechoslovakia taking over Bohemia and eventually Prague, ending the appeasement.
  • Invasion of Poland

    1.5 million German troops invade Poland bombing airfields and attacking Polish naval forces. On September 3rd Britain, France and many other country's declare war with Nazi Germany.
  • Battle of France

    Nazi Germany invade Belgium and the Netherlands or the lower country's, then proceeding to France and taking out France in a mere six weeks.
  • Battle of Britain

    Nazi Germany launch an air assault code name "Sea Lion" but RAF where to strong for the Germans and drove them out of Great Britain.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbour

    Japanese attack American soil in Hawaii, the Japanese killing more than 2000 Americans causing America to start war with Japan.
