Rise to Power
President Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany. This would prove to be one of his final steps in gaining complete power over Germany. -
Rhineland
In the treaty of Versailles, Germany was forbiden from placing any military forces in the area that formed the border between it and France. Hitler ignored this during the reoccupation of the Rhineland. -
Annexation of Austria
In March of 1938, Germany annexed all of Austria. Thanks to the policy of appeasment adopted by nearly all of Europe, this provoked nearly no responce from other European countries. -
Munich Agreement
This agreement allowed Nazi Germany annex areas along its border with Czechoslovakia. This came after Hitler made the claim that these people were of German Decent. -
Complete annexation of Czechoslovakia

Invasion of Poland
Germany launched a surprise invasion of Poland in the early hours of September 1st. The country fell within a matter of weeks. -
Defence of Poland
In light of the events, both France & Britian declared war on Germany in an attempt to defent Poland. Though this would prove ultimately unsuccessful. -
Cash & Carry
This policy allowed the United States to sell arms and other military goods to the countries of its choosing as long as they arranged for the transportation of the goods using their own ships and paid immedietaly in chash. This policy was adopted in hopes of maintining neutrality. -
Invasion of France
Germany began its invasion of France in May of 1940 by notably invading the neutral country of Belgium -
Fall of Paris
Unlike WWI, Paris was taken by the Germans in a matter of weeks. This was followed by the eventual surrender of France only days later. -
Battle of Britian
Over the cries of Britian, the air war raged. Eventually Britian won, which forced the Germans to abandon their plans to invade the island nation. -
Germany Invades USSR
Germany betrayed its previous pact with the USSR and invaded its terriorty in hopes of preventing them joining forces with the United states in the years to come. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor. This unexpected attack prompted the United States to enter the war on the side of the allies. -
Battle of Midway
This marked the turn of the war in favor of the allies in the pacific theater. The Americans were able to destroy practically all of Japans ability to wage an offensive war. -
Battle of Stalingrad
This is one of the very first major German defeats on the eastern front. An entire German army is completely destroyed, this marks the turn of the war in favor of the allies. -
Itally Surrenders
The people of Italy surrendered to the allies, however the German government proceded to quickly take control of the country and set up a puppet government. -
D-Day
The marked the invasion of France by the allies in an all out attempt to retake the continent of Europe back from the Germans. -
Battle of Berlin
The Russians finally reached Berlin and began the final battle of the European theater. This likely caused Hitler to commit suicide, leaving his city to suffer the ravages of war without him. -
Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
These two Japenese cities were destroyed by the only use of atomic weapony in history in order to end WWII and save American lives by avoiding the invasion of the Japanese mainland.
