    the great depression began while Herbert Hoover was in office. He made a few mistakes while trying to fix this leading the people to believe that the great depression was his fault. There was a 50% decrease in personal income tax, revenue profits an dinternation trade.

  • Hitler Becomes Chancellor of Germany

    was head of the Nazi political party. Gaining support by preaching racial superiority, he won the elections of 1932 and became the chancellor of germany.
  • Roosevelt First Elected President

    in 1932 FDR, a democratic man, replaced Herbert Hoover and became president and was looked upon to become the savior of the great depression. He created the new deal and the second new deal also he had fireside chats explaining his thinking to the civilians

    annual antisemitism laws that were introduced by the nazis at political rallies. Some of these laws banned jews and promoted the superior race

    America was allowed to lend weapons to the allies even though we were nuetural. THis was approved by Roosevelt although it ultimatly didn't work and brought us into the war.
  • The Nazis Implement the Final Solution

    the final solution is to eliminate all of the inferior race and leave the superior race (areons) to rome the world. He started by putting the jewish people in the internment camps and then they were moved to death camps.

    the battle of midway was a turning point in the war. This battle was the fighting with the japanese and the americans over midway island.

    1944 june 6 americans expected the attack to be a fail but not. Invaded german defences largest sea attack. Bombers made holes for people to hide in boats carried people

    The new "manish" look for woman who started building there planes and tanks/guns. Woman now took the mens position during the war and were given more rights and better wages. Showed the idea of strong woman

    U.S. marines invaded Iwo Jima. at the top of mount suribachi in Fecruary America soldiers planted the U.S. flag signaling there victory.

    Conference were allies planned the post war world. This is were they decided what to do with the enimies its like the treaty of versailles
  • Okinawa

    Marines invaded Okinawa and after several months they had captured both Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Conquering the land 120,000 Japanese died and only 18000 Americans died.
  • Formation of the United Nations

    50 nations met in san francisco to discuss a new peackeeping organization to replace the weak and ineffective league of nations
  • Allied Forces Advance on Berlin, Germany Surrenders

    germany losing the battle of bulge had already pretty much lost. The soviets however didnt want them to even have the slightest chance of coming back so they advanced and attacked berlin
  • all nations ratified

    all 50 nations ratified the charter creating a new internation peacekeeping body known as the united nations. president roosevelt ahd urged american snot to turn their back on the world again. Unlike the league of nations the united states is a member of the united nations.

    allies held the potsdam conference to plan the war's end. Decision was made to put Nazi war criminals on trial
  • Atomic Bombs Dropped on Hiroshima

    the first atom bomb meant to do damage is launched on hiroshima. After the explosion Americans contact the Japanese questioning if they surrender, the answer however is a no
  • Atom Bomb is Dropped on Nagasaki

    the second atom bomb is launched by the U.S. and is aimed at nagasaki. The japanese surrendered not wanting another attack.
  • Japanese Officials Sign an Official Letter of Surrender on the U.S.S. Missouri, Ending World War II

  • Nuremberg trials

    24 defendants including some of Hitler's top officials. Hermann Goering creator and head of Gestapo (secret police) charged with crimes against humanity. 19 found guilty, 12 sentenced to death. people are responsible for their actions, even in wartime.
  • marshall plan

    congress approved secretary of state george Marshall's plan to help boost european economies. The U.S. gave more than 13 billion to help the nations of europe get back on their feet.
