Battle of the Coral Sea
The Battle of the Coral Sea was fought May 4-8, 1942. This Battle halted the japanese expantion to Australia and the potential to become an even bigger threat. The Americans stopped them but with great casualties. -
Battle of Midway
The Americans first naval and airial victory over the japanese. This battle put them at about equal strength after U.S. planes destroyed a japanese naval fleet. -
Battle of Stalingrad
From July 17th, 1942- february 2, 1943 Germany tried to take over Russia. Adolf Hitler tried to take over Stalins town. This also went against nonaggression pact of 1939 when Germany promised to not attack Russia for 10 years. The Russians used their geography and numbers to turn the Germans back. With this attempt Russia joined the allies in the attack against the axis powers. -

This ground Battle of Bulge from December 16th, 1944- January 28th, 1945 was underway. The costliest battle of the Americans losing 100,000 casualties. This battle on the bulge bridge stopped despirate German couterattacks. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The Battle of iwo Jima was fought from Febuary 16th- March 16th 1945. This Amphibious operation was a huge success for the Americans when they took an island from the japanese. This battle gained the Americans hope and the famous raising of the falg took place at this battle. They could also use the island as an airstrip to help with airial attacks in later battles. -
