    Germany Invades Poland
    The Invasion of Poland by Germany begins at 4:45 a.m. with the Luftwaffe attacking Poland. The Luftwaffe attacks Krakow, Łodz, and Warsaw. Joseph Stalin ordered his forces into Poland on the 17 September. Poland was quickly defeated by both the Soviets and the Germans. The Polish Airforce was destroyed in 10 days.

    German Invasion of France
    Germany invades France. Germany uses it's blitzkrieg tactic and quickly pushes into France. The Germans almost capture 330,000 British troops at the battle of Dunkirk. On the 22nd of June France signs an armistice with Germany. The armistice splits France up.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    The Battle of Britain begins as the first large air offensive against Britain with almost 500 bombings by Germany. Germany bombs around London until September 7th. Germany begins the Blitz of London bombing it 60 nights in a row. Britain doesn't give up and wins the battle.
  • Germany Invades Russia

    Germany Invades Russia
    Germany invades Soviet Union in Operation Barbarosa. The Finnish help the Germans with this attack. The Germans quickly take over Leningrad and Kiev. The battle is very one-sided early and the Germans take alot of ground. Germany pushes towards Moscow.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The Japanese launch a surpise attack on the U.S. The attack came in 2 waves. It was a devastating attack on the American base. This causes the U.S to join the war. Luckily the main target for the Japanese wasn't destroyed, these being the aircraft carriers.
  • Battle of Tunisia

    This Was the last battle in Africa. After America captured 240,000 german soldiers. Erwin Rommel escaped from the battle. This was a major morale booster for the Americans. it also allowed for the invasion of italy. The Germans retreated from africa after this battle.
  • Battle of Staligrad

    Battle of Staligrad
    Stalingrad is considered the turning point of the war in Europe. At the beginning of the battle the Germans were winning. The Russians held out and defended the city and put the entire German are in retreat. The Russians refuses to give up the city and broke the spirit of the Germans. It also reach extremely cold conditions.
  • Invasion of Sicily

    This is the first invasion od Europe. In operation Husky a joint force of British and American troops made a land invasion of Italy. It was the first foothold in Europe by the Americans. This was also a major boost in Allied morale. After this battle and stalingrad Hitler rule over Europe was impossible.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This was a major Allied invasion of occupied France. This made it clear that Germany was losing. It put the Germans in a full retreat on both fronts. Huge success on the Allied side. It relieved pressure on Russia.
  • V-E day

    Victory in Europe.The Germans unconditionally surrender to the Allied forces. Hitler commits suicidea and the Nazi regime falls. America now turns its attention to the Pacific. Thousands of jews are freed.
