    Preparing the Invasion
    The US had a year off after the Pear Harbor attack and they needed a way to get in the war in Europe and Russia was asking the Allies to open up another front. Most of the soldiers were getting ready and the ones who were fought in the pacific. Operation Torch would be the perfect operation to open a new front. Operation Torch would also be the first time the US and Brittish soldiers fight together.

    The Allies wanted to control Morocco and AlgeriaBecasue the knew that the Vichy government was working with the Axix, the US try to make contact with the French in North Africa so they don't engage the Allies. Because of German ocupation and past events some french did engage the Allies which cause a big confrontation.

    In order to relieve pressure from the Axis forces, the Allied forces invade North Africa with 124,000 British and American soldiers. They land in Casablanca, Morocco, Oran and Algiers, Algeria. This would be an amphious attack like the one in Operation Overlord. This would be a big problem for the Vichy Goverment.

    There were about 60,000 French troops in Morocco with a small naval fleet based at Casablanca. The Vichy Engage the Allies and a confrontation caused some allied casualties including a destruction of a US transport with 200 men.

    In order to spread out and take control faster, the Allies invade three different beaches in North Africa. With their main targets being Casablanca, Oran, and Algiers. This would serve as the rough draft for Operation Overlord. A lot of the mistakes that were made in Operation Torch was fixed for D-Day.

    Oran Surrenders.
    An amphibious attack was order for the capture of Oran with 18,500 soliders. After heavy fire from both parties, it was the constant heavy fire from the Brittish Naval fleet that cause the French to surrender Oran.
  • Casablanca Surrender

    Casablanca Surrender
    The Allies invade Casablanca with heavy air support. This attack also saw how big the US air strike was. Some confusion in landing give the French time to organize but in the end the French Surrender an hour before the final assault took place. The city was taken over two days after landing, not a big challange for the Allies.

    French Admiral Jean Darlan commands to cease fire after President Eisenhower promises him that he will remain in power after the invasion.
  • Operation Ends.

    Operation Ends.
    After the Durlan was promised with power most of the French joined the Allies and some sided with Hitler; but Durlan was later assasinated.
  • Afternath.

    Afternath.
    The Allied forces control N. Africa and advance deeper North to help out th Russians. Commander Durlan is also assissinated in December. Germans try to take back some territory and the British fail to defend.
