Battle of Bardia
Bardia a small city in Libya was being controlled by Italian troops. Australians helping the Allies pushed through Defensive lines. Italians put up a good fight but were not able to hold the ground and Australians took many soliders as prisoners. Ended December 31, 1941

Seige of Tobruk
German general Erwin Rommel attacked British, Polish, and Austrailian troops in Tobruk, Libya . Between March 31 and November 27 ,1941 attacked troops twice. Australian reinforcements came in by sea and lifted the seige.

First Battle of El Alamein
The First Battle of El Alamein was a battle fought between Germany and Italy against Great britain. German and Italian troops could not hold up against British troops. It was said to be a stalemate, but also a victory for the British.The battle stopped the advance by the Axis forces into Egypt, El Alamein.Fighting ended on July 22,1942

Second Battle of El Alamein
After being pushed back by Germans, Britsih Commander Bernard Montgomery made it his duty to break German lines, near El Alamein. German General Erwin Rommel hoped to push the British out of El Alamein and once again take control of it . There was heavy artillery from the British against the German, until Rommel is forced to surrender and retreat on November 11, 1942. A British victory at last, that marked the turning point in the War.

Battle of Oran
US continued with their invasion of North Africa, moving into Algeria. US moved into Oran, in hopes they could capture airfield there. The airfeild was controlled by French Vichy soliders, who had an agreement with Nazis. At first US did not do so well when they attempted to land on the Oran harbor and were shot at by the French, but later were able to seize the airfield and push out all of the French Vichy soliders.Ended on November 9

Invasion of Algiers
Americans invaded Algiers from 3 surrounding beaches. French resistance troops were unprepared but did try to fight off Americans. One of the French Generals welcomed the Americans. Americans were too strong an the French resistance troops were forced to surrender. Ended the same day.

Casablanca Confernce
President FDR, Prime Minister of Great Britain Winston Churchill, and Combined Chiefs of Staff met in Casablanca, Morocco to discuss the next step in the war and what they would do. No one outside the conference knew of it until everyone left safely from Morocco.

Battle of Kasserine Pass
US had their first defeat in the war in Tunisia, when Erwin Rommel sent troops to Tunis the capital of Tunisia. Defended by US troops, Rommel decided it would be a great victory. The fighting began and Rommel was determined to stop the advancement of Americans. Out numbered by several thousands Rommel called in for reenforcements, which enabled him to win. Feburary 20, Americans had to surrender, having had so many causalities and deaths.

Battle of Mareth
Allie troops knew of German troops in Tunisia, Egypt and needed to get rid of them. With Germans in Mareth, Tunisia General Montgomery planned an attack. Americans moved in and forced the Germans to retreat on May 13.

Battle of El Guettar
Americans atempted to break German and Italian lines in El Guettar, Tunisia. Unforatunely at the beginning U.S. troops were weak and were being forced up north to the sea, until reinforcements from general Montgomery. German and Italian troops were defeated on May 13,1943 and Germany fully surrenders North Africa.
