    Unlike the First battle of El Alamein, where the Allied forces stalled the Axis powers from advancing through Egypt, in this battle they managed to drive them out completely, ended the Axis threat to Egypt

    The Allies launched the largest seabourne invasion in history, in a place in north-west Europe called Normandy, it ended in the Allies taking thr Nazy controlled Normandy.

    Germany surrenders, signing the papers in Berlin, this ended the war against the Nazis.

    Victory in Europe day was a public holiday to celebrate Germany's surrender.
  • Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    This was the first ever atomic weapon to be used in an actual war, it was meant to be used on Nazi Germany but since they had already surrendered by the time it was ready they dropped it on Japan to end the war quickly, killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese.
  • Soviet Union declares war on Japan

    The Soviets declared war on the Japanese by invading the Japanese controlled Manchukuo.
  • Atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki

    The first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima wasnt enough for the Japanese government to feel like they need to surrender, so just 3 days after another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, leading to Japans surrender.
  • Japan surrenders/ end of WWII

    After The atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasakim, Japan finally surrenders unconditionally, therefore ending WWII
