    On this day, hundres of Japanese fighter planes attacked the american naval base at Pearl Harbor close to Honolulu Hawaii.     They established the relocation centers because of the Pearl Harbor and the war against Japan. The conditions in the camps where really bad, they were overcrowded and had poor living conditions. Food was rationed out and they didn't have any plumbing or anything for them to cook with. They ended in 1944.

    American, British and Canadian forces attacked five beaches on the coast of France's Normandy region. It was one of the largest military things that has happened in history and it requiered a lot of planning. They were originally going to do it in June 5 but couldn't do it because of the weather. Thousands of soldiers were killed, wounded or lost. Less than a week later after it started, the becahes were completely taken over.     Three German armies started the deadliest battle of the war in the west. It was also the costliest battle the US has ever done, which suffered in 100,000 casualties.

    It was the second time that the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, Soviet Premier, Joseph Stalin and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt met in a meeting. They agreed during the conference that they needed to demand Germany's surrender and began plans for the world post-war. Stalin also agreed to enter Asian war against Japan.     The US troops decided to encircle the Germans in the Ruhr. They wanted to do this to finally stop them and everything that they were doing. It lasted two weeks but at the end, they were able to end them. More than 300,000 Germans became prisioners of the war making it the largest single german surrender in the war.     The world's first atomic bomb was used this day, a bomb sent to Hiroshima in Japan from the US.
