Invasion of Poland

Germany invaded Poland on the 1st of September of 1939. Germans took more than 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes in order to take Warsaw.

Britain and France

Sep 3, 1939

On the 3rd of September of 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany. This was announced through the British radio on 11 am of September 3rd. Britain and France had gauranteed Poland that Poland would be able to keep their land but Germany was trying to take it.

Germany and France

Jun 22, 1940

On the 22nd of June of 1940, Germany and France signed an armistice. This meant that they coudln't attack each other.

Warsaw Month

Period: Oct 1, 1940 to Oct 31, 1940

During this month, the Jews in Warsaw were moved into the Warsaw Ghetto. (I cannot add a picture here for some reason.)

Into the Sea

Period: Mar 1, 1941 to Mar 31, 1941

German U-boats are winning the Battle of the Atlantic but Britain destroyed Italian ships in the Mediterranean and won the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Soviet Union

Jun 22, 1941

On this day, Hitler attacked the Soviet Union in Operation Barbarossa.

The USA

Period: Jul 1, 1941 to Jul 31, 1941

US forces went to island to stall the Nazi invasion. Also, the USA told Japan to stay out of Indo-China. Japanese troops do not listen and go to Indo-China.

Pearl Harbor

Dec 7, 1941

Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor and sunk many American ships. The Japanese did this because otherwise, the Americans could've easily sunk the Japanese navy.

Final Solution

Period: Jan 1, 1942 to Dec 31, 1942

This is when the Nazis decided to start killing every Jew. The Nazis would actually just start killing Jews any way possible, sometimes even setting them on fire.

Pacific Front

Period: Apr 1, 1942 to Apr 30, 1942

The Japanese and the Americans start fighting more. There are a few battles in different islands through the Pacific.

Battle of Midway

Period: Jun 4, 1942 to Jun 7, 1942

This was a battle between the Japanese and the American troops over Midway Island. It was 3 days long.

Battle of Guadalcanal

Period: Aug 7, 1942 to Feb 28, 1943

This was a very long battle on the Pacific Front. Americans and Japanese were fighting for this important territory. At the beiginning, Americans were "being shot and blown apart" but they eventually won.

D-day

Jun 6, 1944

This is the day when the Allies started to win against Germany in WWII. The Allies went to Normandy, France on that day to start to win over France.

Battle of the Barge

Dec 16, 1944

This battle started during the 16th of December of 1944. It was Hitler's last attempt to win against the Allies. It was known as the Battle of the Bulge because the Nazi army formed a bulge in the Allied army.

Yalta Conference

Period: Feb 1, 1945 to Feb 28, 1945

The leaders of the USA, the UK, and the USSR made the Yalta Conference. In this conference, they decided what to do with the Germany, Japan, Yugoslavia, and other countries.

Battle of Okinawa

Apr 1, 1945

This battle started on this day. America won over Okinawa, which was a Japanese territory. It was not an easy battle to win.

Surrendering

May 7, 1945

On this day, Germany signed a surrender in France. This ended the European conflict in WWII.

Nuclear Bombs

Aug 6, 1945

On this day, the USA dropped an atomic bomb over Japan. The bomb was dropped over Hiroshima and killed thousands of people. The co-pilot of the plance that dropped the bomb has been known to have written down “My God, what have we done?”

More Atomic Bombs

Aug 9, 1945

Three days after bombing Hiroshima, Americans returned to Japan and dropped a bomb over Nagasaki.

Japan Surrenders

Sep 2, 1945

On this day, Japan officially surrendered to the Allies, oficially ending WWII once and for all.
