The Japanese Invade Manchuria
The Japanese inavde the land of China. they took Manchuria,a region near Korea. Even though Japanese government was against this, they still went through with it; posing a threat to the League of Nations. It was the very start of a World War. -
Nuremburg Laws
By this time it was the very begining of the Holocaust in a way. The Jews were now instructed to wear a Star of David at all times to signify that they are a Jew. -
Three Become One
With Germany and Italy gaining more and more power in Europe; Japan was increasing in power as well. They eventually formed an alliance with eachother, later becoming known as the 'Axis Powers'. -
Kristallnacht
Also known as the 'Night of Broken Glass'; the Nazi's raided and almost comepletely destroyed a Jewish town. -
Germany Invades Poland
It was Germany using their all new 'Blitzkreig' strategy. Two days later, Great Britain and France both declared war on Germany for this. It was the start of WWII in Europe. -
Soviet Occupation
Due to a secret agreement with Hitler,the Soviets began to occupy Eastern Poland after the invasion. Led by Joseph Stalin, they began to invade Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia as well. -
Germany Invades France
Coming in from the North, the Germans begin their invasion of France. Avoiding the Maginot Line, the French surrendered once they reached Paris. The Germans also took over Northern France. -
Lend Lease Act
The Lend Lease Act was put into play. Enabling America to trade with countries fighting on both sides of the war. -
Atlantic Charter
The Atlantic Charter upheld free trade among nations and the right of people to choose their own government. It later served as the Allies' 'Peace Plan' when the war ended. -
Battle of Britain
Operation 'Sea Lion' was underway for the Germans. They did invasion after invasion with the attempt for Britain to lose their morale. But the British kept on, learning that the Germans could be stopped. -
Germany Invades Soviet Union
Germany invades the Soviet Union using their highly successful 'Blitzkreig' strategy. In defense, the Soviets fought back using their 'Scorched Earth' strategy. When Winter came, the Germans invaded Moscow, and lost the battle. -
Peral Harbor
It was early in the morning, around 5 am, destined to become "A date which will live in infamy'. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. And in doing so, they sunk 18 ships, 8 battleships and 2,400 people were killed. An entire fleet was almost completely destroyed. -
Japanese Internment
President Roosevelt set up an internment program for Japanese immigrants and current inhabitants. They had to be relocated as far away from an ocean coastline as possible. In the fear that these Japanese were spies, the areas which the Japanese could inhabit were heavily guarded. -
Battle of Midway
After Pearl Harbor, Midway Island was Japan's next target. Destroying hundreds of planes and ships, it eventually led to an American victory. -
Allies Invade Sicily
The Allies invade the Italian island of Sicily. At ths time, Mussolini was slowly losing his power over the country. A turning point in the war, resulting into the death of the Italian Dictator, Mussolini. -
D-Day
A planned attack against the Germans on the English Channel, successfully duping the Germans. They fought along the beaches of Normandy, with a win for the Allies. In the aftermath, the allies liberated Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands from German control. -
German Surrender
After the Battle of the Bulge, the Germans were cornered in their own country. They eventually surrendered. The day became known as 'V-E Day' or 'Victory in Europe Day'. -
Bombing of Hiroshima
An atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima by the U.S. Killing about 73,000 out of the 365,000 inhabitants. -
Bombing of Nagasaki
The U.S. dropped another bomb on Japan. This time, in Nagasaki. With a population of 200,00 at the time, about 37,500 of them were killed; and many others of radiation. -
The End
After the bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese surrendered in defeat. Taking place on the U.S. ship, 'Missouri', near the shores of Tokyo Bay. It marked the official end of WWII.
