  • Battle of The Atlantic

    Battle of The Atlantic
    The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest battle of WWII taking place from September 3, 1939 – May 8, 1945. In the battle the Germans and their U-Boats and aircrafts against the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Navy and allied Merchant ships. This was a key battle for Canada as it showed they where a strong force as the Royal Canadian Navy played a strong part in the allied victory.
  • Netherlands

    Netherlands
    The Liberation was the most significant and contributed most to Canada’s growing independence as it showed the loyalty of Canada in following Britain but it showed how Canadians are there for the smaller countries something that we see happen a lot now all based from how they freed Nazi occupied Netherlands. Netherlands still send Tulips every year as a sign of gratitude showing to us that this was truely a great feat for Canadains and is the most significant battle of Canada in WWII.
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    Battle of Dunkirk
    The Battle of Dunkirk, lasted from May 26th to June 4, 1940. It was a war against the Allies and British versus Germany and it was one of the most deadly battles of the war. This was an evacuation from the Battle of France but Dunkirk was taken over by the Germans and as a result the Battle was unsuccesful.

    Battle of Britain
    The Battle of Britain was campaign by the German Air Force against the U.K. This campaign was fought solely in the air and consisted of many aerial bombings. Canadians also helped in the efforts and with the efforts of Britain and Canada they where victorious. This battle lasted from 10 July – 31 October 1940.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    Battle of Hong Kong
    The Battle of Hong Kong was one of the first battles of the pacific campaign of WWII. It happened on December 8 1941 the same day of the attack on Pearl Harbour. In this Battle when Japan invaded Hong Kong, Britain was there along with India and Canada to defend. This though was unsuccessful leading to the surrender of Britain followed by the surrender of India and Canada. This was very short ending 17 days later on Dec 25.
  • Dieppe

    Dieppe
    The raid took place on the northern coast of France on 19 August 1942. The assault lasted less then 6 hours before the Allied forces where forced to surrender. This battle was a complete failure but still served well as it was a test to see what the German defenses were like and helped get information to plan out D-Day.
  • Italian Campaign

    Italian Campaign
    The invasion of Sicily in the Italian Campaign was the first full scale combat engagement by full Canadian divisions since WWI. It led to the death of over 25,00 Canadian solders but it showed how passionate and capable Canadians where.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    On June 6 1964 the allied forces came together for an attack on the beaches of Normandy. The segment that Canada got was called Juno beach. The invasion was in waves and started in the morning but the night before paratroopers dropped in to helped clear out a segment away from the beach, the escape route. On D-Day every beach had its own ojectives but only one beach carried out all of the objectives on the actual day, Canada.
