The Ailres declare war on Nazi Germany. Hitler said the invasion of Poland was a defensive move, but Britian, France, Australia and New Zealnd did not believe him and therefore declared war when Germany refused to leave Poland. -

Japenese forces attack Sydney harbour
In the late afternoon of 31 May 1942 three Japenese submarines each launched a Type A midget submarine for an attack on shipping in Sydney Harbour. This was the first WWII was bought to Australia. -
Kokoda Track
Japenese land forces try to reach port Moresby using the Kokoda Track but were stopped by Australian troops. -
Japan Surrenders, war over for Australia
Japan finally accepted the allies demands for an unconditional surrender. This meant the war was final over for Australia.
