Invasion of Poland
Hitler blitzkrieged Poland while Russia attacked Poland from the east and Hitler's troops invaded Poland from the south, north, and west. This happened so Hitler could gain some power. This was the start of WWII.

Battle of Britain
Germany attacks Britain, bombing everything they could. However, 1,700 German planes were lost, while Britain only lost 1,000 planes. The radar the UK used saved them from being defeated by Germany.

Germany Invades USSR
Over 4 million troops moved into Russia. After about a month, over 2 million Russians were killed or captured as POW. The Germans invaded areas like Moscow. Hitler wanted even more power, but winter hit, causing this move to hit a stop.

Bombing of Pearl Harbor
Japan made a sneaky attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan sent two waves of planes. One was to take out ships and the airfield. The 2nd wave would clean out the rest of the base. This was done to stop the U.S. from influencing Japan's battle in southeast Asia.

U.S. Claims War
After Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR claimed war on Japan in his speech about Japan's act of a "deliberate deception". The U.S. officially entered the war on this day.

D-Day
This operation was officially called Operation Overload. This event consisted of American, British, Polish, and Canadian divisions on the beaches in Normandy, France. A fake army was created by the Allies to make Germany think they were attacking Calais not Normandy. Once Hitler sent his troops to Calais, the Allies gave Hitler a surprise and invaded France.

Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The world's first deployed atomic bomb was dropped over the city of Hiroshima. Nagasaki was also bombed three days later. Japan's Emperor surrendered due to these bombings. There is not an exact toll of how many died, but it was at least 150,000 people out of both bombs together.
